So I'm watching the latest episode...

of Airline last night. 16 boxes appear at the SWA check out counter, 25 minutes before departure. I guess SWA has a policy that boxes can go in cargo as long as they are less than 75lbs and one 1 individual may check in a max of 3 boxes. Well it turns out that 5 people are checking in these boxes to be good to go.

Now comes this lady with her 5 kids range from 10 yrs old down to 12 months old who are the ones responsible for signing for these boxes.

And I have to know, was I the only one that wanted to grab those bratty screaming children that came off the plane and pop em right in the face?!?!?! (As their parents ignoringly didn't appear concerned)

They would've been removing me from the flight in handcuffs when we landed if I had to listen to them the whole flight.

Guess there's a reason I never want kids.

That rule is for most airlines, and passengers have learned to use every bit of it.

I've seen families with five kids/infants, and each person has three checked suitcases or boxes that each weigh 75.0000 pounds. People even stuff things in their golf bags, since they're allowed to weigh up to 75 pounds, but their actual weight (and their official FAA weight) is much less.

That Airline show is a riot. It makes SWA look like they have such superior customer service, and will go along with just about anything the passengers want to try and get away with. I doubt if any airline's employees are going to tell a passenger "surely, you can't be serious" when they're on camera...

i dont know about you, but after watching that show with all the "getting bumped" and stuff i wouldnt want to fly SWA. I fly alot usually all full flights and have never come close to being bumped. Does this happen alot?

I've been on some overbooked flights, but I volunteered to give up my seat. The cash is cool, stay in a hotel (which is nice cuz ya ain't gotta make the bed), swim for a bit...its a pretty decent deal.

I just can't stand the people that show up at the gate 15 minutes late and act like they should have held the plane because they were shopping for their FUBU down in the "mall"...

But how often have I been "bumped" (voluntarily or involuntarily)? about 4 times...no biggie

What do you mean by "getting bumped"? (I obviously haven't been watching the show).

I've been bumped quite often into first class. I've never been bumped out of "my seat" because they overbooked, but then again, I always arrive early.

I got "bumped" into the emergency exit row on a full America West flight recently. The F/A's were having trouble finding anyone who could "read and understand" the instructions printed on the door. Muy Loco!

Now that's funny!

I've only flown two times on America West, and both times I think I was the only english-speaking american on the entire flight! It's exactly how I imagined flying oversea's on a foreign airline! Never again!

I've never been bumped off of SWA. I've been bumped overall about 15 times, 14 of those on Delta out of ATL going to Florida. They overbook the hell out of those flights(up to 30% I was told by customer service - do the math for a 777 or 767). My company buys tickets last minute, and we sometimes end up with a "Check In Required" instead of seat assignment. That usually means you're not getting on that flight.

Unfortunately, I have to ride the airlines about 50 times a year. It sucks, and it's the worst part of my job. That's why I'm trying to get on with SWA, because they have a large base less than a 20 minute drive from my front door.
