and am in a certain FBO...i walk in the crew lounge and glance to the big screen tv and see what i think to be a soap opera love scene or something...well I was just looking around in the room and then look a little closer at the tv...and discover that it was not some soap, but pure porn! HA! It was the funniest thing i've seen in a while. I quickly left the room because I didn't want someone to walk in and me be standing there with it. Guess a line guy forgot or something...but seriously it wasn't me.

So what's the funniest thing you've seen go on around the FBO?

sleeping pilot

2 yrs ago sitting in a FBO Midwest area on a very windy day. A pilot in a Bonanza ripped the gear off his aircraft trying to land in a 35 knot x-wind from 45 degrees of the right side. Unfortunatly he forgot about correcting from a a crab and landed side ways. Any ways now the only runway is closed causing crews and pax's from 8 to 9 corporate aircraft 3-4 hr delay.

After about 2 hours waiting I see a older overweight pilot sitting on the couch head back snoring and drooling. Now did I say snoring I mean't Roaring Snoring Niagra Fall's type drooling and his pax and co-captain are looking and laughing.

You would think they would be descreet and cover up but wait they have better ideas. Lets bring out the camera and take pictures of the pax's posing in different position with there sleeping pilot. Now that being bad enough other pilots and pax's that are strangers are now taking turns posing for the camera with sleeping beauty. Now the line guys see whats going on and decide to get in on the picture taking evnt. The grand finale was the group picture around this poor sleeping pilot with about 25 complete strangers pointing and smiling while his co-captain snapped the pic.

Anyone who can sleep through all of that in an FBO, has been doing this job awhile. Ah, how I long for the days of sleeping in airplanes at 4am or when lucky, on the FBO couch. Do it long enough and you can pretty much sleep anywhere. Walking around unshaven in your socks early in the morning with people streaming into the FBO. Getting those packets of mini-donuts from the vending machine for breakfast and trying to slurp them down with water from the drinking fountain. Taking a paper towel sponge bath in the restroom sink..ahh memories.

Sitting in canada once i fell asleep in the pilots lounge. I wake up and it's hard core porn on the tv. I'm like holy crap. Then this old man walks in and said I knew that would get you up.

So he tells me in canadian english
All you pilots pacing back and forth ramp so busy... so i put in this tape here and everybody sit down and nobody says a word.

He was right.

Computer History

I get a kick out of looking at the history on some of fbo computers man some of the porn sites that are on there. Of course I have to check them out so I was sitting in CRG doing just that and all of a sudden the pop up started and I couldn't get them to stop. So I'm hitting delete Alt Delete anything to stop this ongoing porn pop ups so now people are walking by and all they see is T1Ts A$$ Donkies and Beavers and I can't stop it. Man that sucked finally I yanked the power cord out of the socket and shamefully walked out past the girls behind the counter past the line guys and out to the plane to wait for my pax in shame.

I can top these, but it doesn't involve a FBO. It does involve the government though.

I was once sent on a service call to a not-to-be-named government institution (It starts with an "S" and ends with an "Ocial Security") to investigate intermittent failure of a signal booster. Upon arrival I was directed to a large storage room at the back of the building where the booster was located. The ceiling was about 30 feet high, and there was a maintenance catwalk that ran the perimeter of the room. The booster was wire-tied to a ceiling support about a third the way across the room. So I climbed out on the support (there was only about a 9-foot drop or so to the top of some shelving units if I fell, and I am a real small person. I wasn't too concerned) and proceeded to troubleshoot. In the course of doing this I got my cellphone out and called across the building to the government's network guy to have him test the unit while I worked on it. After about 15 minutes of this, I was waiting for him to do something or another when two employees entered the room, looked around (but not up!) to make sure nobody was around, then commenced to lock the door, lay a blanket down on the (cement) floor, and have sex. I was planning to ignore them but she started moaning and making noise, which could be heard by the idiot on the other end of the phone, and I was feeling like being an asshole besides, so I let it continue a second or two and then yelled "Hey, take that sh-t somewhere else! Some of us have a job to do!"

She screamed like she'd been shot or something, and they just about pulled a shelving unit down on themselves panicing. She started crying and ran off somewhere to hide, and the guy tried to offer me $200 to not tell anyone about it, but by this time people had heard the commotion and discovered the door locked, and were getting a someone to unlock it. The jig was up. The girl was a secretary and got fired, but the guy was a manager and was simply transferred elsewhere. I returned to the same place later for a different service call, and the people there remembered the incident and said they were happy to be rid of the guy because he was an asshole besides.

Shamelessly, I'll chime in on this topic:

Years ago I was working for an FBO as line manager. One night we had a charter come in with Aerosmith (which, by the way, they were OLD men in the 80s! ). The pilot's promptly departed behind the band to go to the concert. About 90 minutes later the pilot's show up with a car load of under-age, highly intoxicated girls, all enticed with the promise of "meeting the band." Well, lets just say the old Ford pickup out behind the hangar had never before been part of such a wild "ride." I had just gotten out of the fuel truck and heard the old rusty springs rockin'.

I walk back in the FBO and one girl was standing in the bathroom with her skirt up, undies down (apparently in the process of getting dressed) with the door WIDE OPEN. Obviously in her state, she was oblivious to the rest of the world.

Finally, the limo arrives with the band, they jump from the limo to the plane and the door closes with narey a nod to their intoxicated, fawning fans. Engines start and away they go, leaving me with six drunk kids crying because Steven Tyler didn't even give them the time of day. But hey! The pilot's had a great time
