smoking flights

Is smoking still allowed on INTL flights. If yes, are there any restrictions.

I could be mistaken, but I believe smoking is prohibited on any U.S carrier world wide, and any foreign carrier while in U.S airspace. 20/20 had a story 4 or 5 months back about Aeroflot suing the U.S government over the smoking ban.
