for those wanting to come over and chase a quick RJ upgrade, you may wanna rethink. just got off the phone with our upgrade/class coordinator and things are not going to be quite like they were last year, unless addition flying is added soon. i've been here 2.5 years, could have upgraded last fall but was seatlocked, and she told me its gonna be another 6 months before i'll be in class. of course, things could always change, but the 1.5 year upgrade may be long gone unless something is announced soon. classes are gonna be much smaller on the captain side. just some info and food for thought.

Upgrade doesn't break a seat lock at SkyWest?!!! WTF?!!! We've had that since 1998 at ASA.

Maybe you need a union...

Last fall would have put you long past a seat lock if you've been here over 2 years. 2.5 years ago is June 2005. Seat lock would have been up June 2006, leaving half of 2006 and 8 months of 2007 before they halted upgrades. Doesn't sound like the whole truth. Plus, you must have seen the numbers on CRJ upgrades, appx 20 every class, not insignificant.

Unless you are trying to pawn a transition as an upgrade.

Voluntary transition from Brasilia to CRJ as FO seatlocks you in that seat for 1 year. There is no upgrade seatlock as a newhire.

Regardless, FOs can transfer all they want to at ASA. Upgrade still breaks a freeze.

They got bypassed for FO to FO, not FO to Captain. Plus if they got bypassed for ATR FO to 700 FO they got payed as 700 FO. Do you have that at skywest? Oh thats right you guys don't have a 700 pay scale.

I seem to remember some saga about guys trying to bid out of the ATR over there. How was that again?

Our contract has a clause that states that if you bid a position of the same pay, the company MAY bypass you for a less senior pilot. This has caused ATR pilots to be bypassed if we bid the -200. Because of this, we just bid the -700 for the higher pay scale provided in our contract.

In fact, there's also a clause in the contract that if and FO bids a higher pay position an can hold the award, the company may bypass them, but must pay them the higher pay. Because of this, most of the ATR FOs get -700 pay.

This has nothing to do with upgrades, though. How long do you think Uncle Jerry will keep that -700 override now that the union threat is gone?

I spent well over a year on the EMB then transitioned over you fu@kin jacka$$. Figured someone like you would chime in like that. And there isn't gonna be 20 upgrades in every class, note my original post and conversation with VA. Like I said, I spoke with her and was just reporting what she told me in case anyone needed some current info.

I hope I don't fly with either of you.

Sounds like a pleasure to be with....

Glad your happy with your choices in life.

Thought OO was going to be pushing XJT out of LAX...

Hence your new flying.........

1. I could care less to fly with you either
2. I couldn't be happier with my choices
3. I was simply posting useful info for pilots who may be interested in SkyWest.

Are you sure you were "seat-locked" and not under the 2500hr mark?
Reason: Got 2 buddies over there and they said that a whole bunch of flight instructor types were passed over for upgrade earlier this year because they didn't have enough hours, hence the 1yr (short lived) upgrade. Those peeps are now starting to reach that min time and the upgrades are going to 2.5 yrs+.
I didn't think the seat lock over there worked that way.
The seat lock at RAH is for 2 yrs (after upgrade - to prevent people from hopping from a/c to a/c) and doesn't apply to FOs.

Don't worry, they'll be some additional flying soon. May not bring it down to 1.5 years again, but you'll still be far better off here than at ASA. How many 2.5 year captains are there at ASA anyway?

Well I have an interview on the 18th and let me tell you... anything sounds better than the 8 years I have here at eagle. I'm not chasing the fast upgrade just any upgrade!

Well lets see, currently the uprade on the ATR is two years, and the jet is 2.5. So you were saying jackazz? I try not to wish bad on anyone, but I do so hope you parasites are forced to see the horrible truth of this industry, and I hope Jerry forgets the lube. Most of you are real pieces of sh!t.

Maybe if ASA aimed lower and flew the 900 for 50 seat rates they would be "rewarded" with more flying. Wake up...Skywest is no better than any other average regional airline.
