I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers to on here or aviationinterviews.

1. Should I rent a car? Will Candlewood Inn drive you to/from SkyWest's hangar?

2. I'm proficient in a Frasca 242 (Seminole ftd). Is it still necessary to go fly the ATC 810 at American Aviation? I've heard it's expensive but I think it might be worth it. I can't find anyone with that sim where I live and I'd like to get a feel for it prior to going to the interview.

3. How late do the interviews run? Could I get away with getting an 8 PM flight back home?

4. I am currently actively flying Warriors, Arrows, Seminoles, Decathlons, and a 182. I also have 50 hrs in a Baron. Any guess as to which they'll drill me on?

5. Any advice?

1. Don't need to rent a car. Candlewood has shuttle that will take you to the hanger for the interview. You will ride in the van with other interviewees or people who are already in class.

2. If you have frasca time, don't waste your money on the ATC 810 at American Aviation. I had about 40 hours in a frasca 141, no 242 time, and it has been 3 years since I flew a frasca, and I had no problem during the sim portion of the ride. If you can't fly a sim, buying 1 hour in that thing won't help you. It's mostly for people who have never been in a sim or people who are not used to flying steam gauges.

3. Interviews run until about 4-5pm, depending on how many people in your interview class or if you have done other portions of the interview already. I got out of there around 4pm, and caught my 4:45pm flight. You should have no problem catching an 8pm flight.

4. Be prepared for the twin airplanes.

5. Be yourself. If they don't like who you are, then too bad.

Good luck!

Renting a car is a waste..Candlewood will van you to the training center free of charge.
I flew the ATC prior to my interview, and got hired..go figure.
8PM flight back should be great, if you like sitting at the airport for a bunch of hours :)
Are you familiar with Fly4food? They are prob going to ask you what you have the most experience in, the most complex bird, and ask you systems questions on that aircraft.
Advice? Dress sharp, be yourself, be friendly, know your stuff (Plane, FARs, etc etc)
These pilots ask themselves, would they want to be on a 4 day trip with you?
Good luck!
See you online!

1. No need to rent a car. The Candlewood will take you there. Just make sure you sign up for a van the day before as they fill up fast with trainees going to class.

2. Don't go to American Aviation. If you know how to handle a sim (light touch, leave it alone and let it fly) you should be able to fly the 810 at the hangar. It's pretty stable.

3. Interviews are usually done late afternoon/early evening. You should be fine with an 8pm flight home. Bring your overnight bag- you'll be able to catch a shuttle to the terminal from the hangar.

4. Know the most complex airplane you fly. Know how a turbine engine works.

5. Relax and know your stuff: weather, regs, Jepps, IFR procedures.

Edit: Wow... the two above beat me to it!!

1. If you can afford to rent a car, I would.....it makes getting food and other stuff easier....also, since the shuttles fill up quick with trainees and other interviewees, it'd probably be a decent thing to let people who need the rides take them.

2. I was in the same situation with the sim time, but the american aviation prep helped me get a feel for the old bastard of a sim that they use.....again, if you can afford it, do it...otherwise do your best..

3. I got out of there around 6:15 p.m....enough time to get a bite to eat, return the car and get to the airport.

4. Prepare for every system in the aircraft you fly the most.....especially the most complex aircraft you have the most time in.

5. Relax...they'll tell you that about 200000000 times during the interview, but it really doesn't sink in till after you're done and waiting for your flight back home. Be forthright and honest about where you've been and where you want to go, and don't try to hide anything......they're looking for people with integrity and adaptable personalities....

good luck

Is Skywest letting you know the day of the interview if you are hired or do they send the Fedex a week later?

You'll get fedex about a week or 2 later.

steveair,
i dont go to und anymore, but do you instruct there now? I am guessing this by the airplanes that you are currently flying.

Yeah... I'm still here. The 20.80/hr has been nice and I get to fly the float plane. It makes good incentive to stay / pay off the bills but it's time to move on.
