Just heard SkyWest employees are now getting Delta buddy passes. Is this true?
Instead, employees will be given 6 r/t friends and family passes based on a $5 segment fee and a yield fare. Basically, cheaper than any buddy pass and usable on all Delta flights, no matter the carrier.
I would suggest that "useable" is a matter of debate...unless your buddies don't mind getting stranded for days on end.
It's non-revenue standby travel. Whats your point?
His "point" is that providing DAL buddy pass travel to any "friend" is often a sure way of losing that friendship for life!
DAL "buddy" passes are S4 priority, just about useless these days on most flights since the load factors are so high everywhere.

SkyWest buddy passes on SkyWest only operated Delta Connection flights will terminate December 1, 2007. Basically, cheaper than any buddy pass and usable on all Delta flights, no matter the carrier. Also, unmarried employees get to designate ANYONE a companion traveller that pays the said fees above but unlimited and does not count against your allotment of 6 r/t friend and family passes. Hope this helps.
So what does the 5 dollar segment fee and yield fare come out to be? Does the mileage count? My friends at Delta tell me a buddy pass can be expensive. Passes at SkyWest are 30 dollars plus shipping fees, are they cheaper than that?
thanks
The cost is based on mileage, just had a friend use a buddy pass he is going from BOS-ATL-DTW, then DTW-CVG-BOS. Total cost was just under 80 dollars.
