How SkyWest avoided getting screwed like all the other regionals.

Yes, but now SkyWest has to deal with ASA and their angry pilots. If we decide to change anything about the SkyWest/ASA feed agreement, we will lose $125 million, but then we can come back and say "no more 50 seaters", and SkyWest would have half of it's fleet looking a new partner, and then bring in MESA and get that $125 million back quickly. Sounds like a better plan.

General; I have to tell you, I read some of your posts and they are usually straight up. But I have to tell you this one sounds like someone sneaking in and spiking the punch because they did not get invited to the party.

ASA and their angry pilots. It is negotiations and we are not all angry. A few posts on flight-info does not indicate the pulse of the pilot group. If you look at the percentage of DCI flying Mesa is a small percentage so is Chautauqua. The largest percentage is ASA COMAIR AND SKYWEST. Do you think Comair pilots are very happy right now? It is just the industry in general, it is like saying America has an obesity problem and you think you are the first one to say it.

Someone creates a "We're awesome blog" and you think I have spiked the punch? These SkyWest management jerks think they are the best thing since sliced bread, and they don't seem to notice a brewing war in their backyard. The author of that blog only barely mentioned that there could be some problem down the road with the ASA pilots. You better believe it. Most I have talked to or read on this board don't like their situation.

Gen

If your track record of predictions was a bit more accurate over the past few years I might actually worry. You have shown yourself to know as little about the business side of things as the rest of us line pilots.

There are over 100 entries on that blog, only two of which have to do with Skywest. I don't think the writers have any relation to Skywest other than interested observers.

:angryfireASADFW7...You have got to be sh1tting me that you are not pissed over the way things are here at ASA. Are you a new hire? If not, you better wake up because 95% of us are PISSED!! Things better get worked out quick with our contract or JA and Skwst will have 160 plus airplanes sitting idle! You HEAR THAT JERRY!!

Speaking for myself, I am not happy about the lines, nor about the pace of negotiations. That being said, given the health of the industry, we are in better shape here at ASA than at most other carriers. We are extremely lucky to have been purchased by SKYW. I would rather be here than at CMR, Mesaba, ACA/Indy, etc. I understand the frustration with negotiations, but maybe we should drag things out now. Now isn't exactly the best time to be negotiating.

No I am not a new hire at ASA, I have been here through being by-passed, drafted on my birthday, screwed over for pay and everything else. I personally think our pilot group is just as stirred up now as they have been as long as I have been here. I do not think that has changed. In fact since we have been purchased, I think that more of us are relieved then anxious. Yes the lines suck, and yes we are working with a management group that is slowly coming around to the changing dynamics of not being owned by Delta. This post was about the dynamics of the Skywest group and the sale with Delta. If you look at it from that context, I do not think the comment from the General was on topic. There are a thousand other factors they did not write about in the post that anyone of us could have brought up. However lets bend this away from the topic again.

I agree...I am not a new hire either and I can't say I am angry...frustated yes, but angry? I realize this whole process of negotiations suck...but last I checked we are not the first airline that has traveled down this road. There is a certain cargo carrier called UPS that seems to be right there with us...That proposal the company put out was garbage but...what did we expect? At least now we can start negotiating something...as frustating as this is...believe it or not its progress. I bet that we will get a contract...better than what we have now...but its going to come down to the 11th hour...The company wants to stretch this as far and long as they can...just like a car salesman wants you to buy the car for the sticker price...its the dirty world of negotiations. The best thing we can do is support the guys doing the dirty work (ALPA negotiators) and not let this ruin my life. If the union determines that no agreement can be made and a strike vote appears...then I will support the union and strike...but I am willing to bet anything it will not come to that. Just like I don't expect a huge raise either...I just want QOL. My life is too valuable to be angry at ASA...also this board is mainly comprised of the vocal minority...

95% of us are pissed? Dude...maybe the 95% that post on flightinfo.com. Frustated is the word. Unless you work at Southwest I have never heard of a management team that listened to what us line guys wanted. What control do you have over any of this? Sure we can burn more gas...do you think anyone cares at the GO how pissed you and I are? I let my union speak for me...those guys doing the negotiating for you and I are there for a reason. I trust them...let them negotiate...and when they determine that its imposible to continue and want a srike vote...then we shut the place down...in the meantime support those guys and don't get stressed over something that neither one of us has any control over. The only thing being pissed will get me is a heart attack, a violation, or a visit to the Chief Pilot...not a new contract.
