And thus, the new junior domicile.

Can't be worse than Fresno...

As long as you fly turbo props you will still be considered a commuter airline. It doesn't matter how much money you make. Public perception is everything.

The new airline is a joint venture between the government of Ghana and Sky West Airline of the USA.

GIAL is now actively negotiating for the necessary aircraft to implement its business plan and anticipates an initial fleet of 8 to 10 wide and narrow body aircraft.

verrry interesting...

Looks like a diversion of funds from your company's bank account that SkyWest employees will see no benefits from. Doesn't look like good news. Ask Mesaba guys how Airtran worked out for them.

Mesaba and Airtran - please explain. Did Mesaba have a hand in the original Airtran in FL??

Ralph Atkin is doing this Ghana venture with his money backing it. SkyWest name gets thrown in there by misinformed Ghana newspapers. SkyWest Airlines is NOT part of this venture.

RELAX PEOPLE!!!

Heck, why stop there.... Ask Mesaba guys how Big Sky is working out.

I agree -- this is a diversion of funds that helps no one at SkyWest.

It is NOT a diversion of funds. Ralph Atkin is using his OWN MONEY to finance this venture. SkyWest has nothing to do with it.

The Ghana media is confused. Lat month they claimed the LDS church owned SkyWest and were buying Ghana Air.

RELAX PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trace Airtran's roots back to its inception and you will find none other than Mesaba Airlines.

Yes, Airtran was created by Mesaba at the same time Air Tran holdings was created to be the holdings company for the two companies. There were 737s parked at the old hangar/GO when it all started. The NWA pilots and NWA had a hearburn with the issue so Air Tran was sold/spun off. The AirTran as we know it today was formed by the merger of the original Air Tran (spawned from Mesaba) and ValuJet.

It is scary to have another airline started/aquired along side your own... no matter whos money its coming from. Mesaba had AirTran and BigSky. WTF is next?
