Hi all! I'm applying to Skywest and was just wondering how many pilots are currently on property and how many pilots are they looking to have on property? Thanks!

1985 pilots as of today.

Latest flight ops update shows classes including another 400 newhire pilots through December 2005.

Are people so desperate to fly for a regional they'll accept NOT GETTING PAID during training?

I guess getting to fly a shiny jet (stop me, I'm underwhelmed at the idea) is more important than a paycheck during training...

Rant over...

NO, people are SO desperate that until recently they were willing to pay close to $18,000 for the privilage of joining the ranks of regional and commuter pilots ....

I'm surprised they haven't started PFT for all the 70 seaters that are coming online, the regionals are already screwing up this industry, why not make some extra money while they do it ...

Okay... so lets see here what we've got here...

2003 - United and ACA part because United is extremely unreasonable on their demansds.

2005 - United and Air Whiskey appear to be parting ways

2007 - United and Skywest? ( I hope not, but you've gotta wonder )

2009 - United and Mesa...

2011 - United and the newest bottom feeder.

Enjoy your Quick Upgrade.
I think thats a little uncalled for. No one at SKYW wants to see any AWAC dudes lose their jobs or get screwed on this deal.

No..It is called for. Nowhere in my post did the blame the pilots. They have given me the jumpseat many times. I'm simply stating that Skywest, the company, and Freedom III (GOJet) are getting new aircraft at the expence of AW's aircraft. And it's not going to change the fact that there is some 1000hr CFI drooling at the chance to get hired there.

I know a lot of people that switched to SkyWest due to the location of West coast bases. It's either them or Horizon (Eagle does have an LA base, but it's VERY senior), and while Horizon is a great company, the time to lineholder is much quicker at SkyWest.

Disregard...

No...I was hired at a time not long ago when EVERYONE including UAL was hiring like mad.

I hope they do enjoy their quick upgrade at the expence of AWAC. I didn't hear AWAC guys crying when you were taking my flying, how does it feel now beeeyotch. Enjoy

If you wish to shout please at least check your spelling.

and at who's expense is all the RJ growth at SKYW, AWAC, and all the other (regionals, use the term sparingly, there is no such thing as a regional anymore!) all the furloughed pilots that had their careers wahed down the tubes.
