Why is everyone still here? Theres nothing to see here. Run along!

No seriously, say something or leave.

HEATHENS!

Some of you guys have been here for an hour!

You know why. This is like the big train wreck.. You know you shouldn't stand and look,,, but for some reason,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Terrain,

You have a problem with two grown men falling in love with each other? Not that there is anything wrong with it.

Something tells me our Russian friend has been hitting the old Vodka bottle again. And I think it's the cheap stuff. Like Popov. Or maybe home brew. He must have lead poisoning with all these stupid comments.

I see this turning into a PFT arguement.

Here we go.....

Ok then, tell us how you came into the aviation world. Once we have determined every part of your aviation career to be worthy, we can clear you of all shame. This is what I want to know:

1. Where do you work?
2. How did you get hired there?
3. How did you build your time?
4. Tell us every plane you have ever flown:

Tell us which ones you rented.
Tell us which ones you flew for free when you should have been paid.
Tell us when you flew for below average pay "just to get a chance".

5. Tell us your education level and what schools you attended.
6. Tell us how you paid for your flight training and college (if attended).

Then let me judge you.

Kaptain of the KGB!

Back to the thread

OK, now that the personal attacks are over (this board has a reputation for that), why is it that Skywest pilots are leaving? Is it due to lack of a policy of training to proficiency, or what is it?

CC

It is probably that there are just so many of them now that it is inevitable that some are taking their PIC and moving on to Alaska, Continental, UPS, Fed EX and fractionals. SkyWest is not going to step up the plate and lead the industry on pay - 50 seat Captain pay is not the be all, end all - so a few are moving on.

This movement is a good thing for the SkyWest guys.

Yea, what's this "3 months without pay" stuff? That occured in the past but hasn't been that way in quite awhile. At least get your facts straight THEN start drinking.

Ok, wait. Maybe I should take my own advice and not drink so soon! I just realized you said "3 MONTHS". I was thinking you were talking about training (which is about 2 months) or something. Sorry.

So, now, what's this "3 months with no pay" thing?

Seems this thread has gone down the tubes...But...

Reason pilots are leaving is because they are going to other airlines (i.e. Cathay, Emirates, Lots of United callback, UPS, FedEx). Every Captain I have flown with in the past 6 weeks will be moving on within the next few months. None of the FOs are leaving to the best of my knowledge.

One last thing...what is this whole 3 months with no pay thing??? SkyWest has been paying for training again for over a year now as well as providing a hotel.

First year pay does blow...but is it really anything to talk about anywhere else???

I guess if we voted in ALPA we'd be getting the big bucks.

HAHA

I've been at SkyWest for almost 6 years and I just turned in my LOR. This industry is going down the sh!tter fast, and I'm out. Y'all enjoy!!!

Are you getting out of aviation all together, or just the regional airline industry? I know many corporate pilots who really like their jobs.

I left for Southwest. Nothing against Skywest, but realistically most people go to a regional to try and get some PIC time to move on for better pay and more days off. Not like this is a new thing. When I was in class at SWA there were three newhire classes at the training center. Total from Skywest in those classes: 5.

Mesaba's 1st year pay is $5/hr more than Skywest's, yet Skywest's 2nd year pay is $7/hr more than Mesaba's. Our meager incomes all balance out in the end.

Emirates is accepting RJ time now?
