This is directed to SkyWest pilots. Sure, I know I'll get flamed too, but I'd appreciate serious answers. Thanks in advance.

If you pick up a trip off the swap board or open time on your day off, when you have a reserve line, does that pay beyond the 75 hr guarantee and not count toward guarantee? That is how I understand it, however, I'd like to get an answer before flying on my days off and THEN find out that I'm not getting paid any more unless I break guarantee. I haven't been called on my days on call, so I thought I'd work on my days off to make extra money. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

you are correct.
good luck on reserve.

USC328,

If you work on your day off and have a reserve schedule you do get payed that extra time you worked. It doesn't count toward your reserve guarantee though. But it is extra money. So if you don't break 75 hours, you get the 75 hours times your hourly pay plus any per-diem and then the pay from the days you worked on your days off. And if it was junior man time then you get time and a half or even double time if they're desperate or a comp day. If you don't mind working on your days off then do so. Hope this helps.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the info. Glad to know I was right about this. I've been picking up extra trips on my days off this past two weeks and had a captain that thought otherwise with my interpretation of the extra pay on days off. Glad to know I wasn't working for free/towards guarantee that I was no where close to breaking. Fly safe everyone.

it definitely counts above guarantee...I'll be getting paid for 94 hours for november, and almost 96 if they approve my plans for december.....

Thanks,

Ya, same applies for me. I'll get 98hrs for Nov and I only will have worked 6 days if they don't call me this week. I've only been called once while on reserve the past 2 months. I've already got 93 hours scheduled for December. I like knowing how to work the system.

in Oct. I blocked only 51 hours, but working in days off got my credit up to over 100. conceivably, you could take yourself off of 'Call First,' never get called, then pick up a few locals on days off that total, say, 15 hours of credit. If you never got called on your reserve days, you'd credit (get paid) 90 hours for the month. not bad for working only 3 days.

Bet your management has a copy of our (ASA) contract. Enjoy that while you can. Hope it doesn't change though, pretty nice deal you have there, maybe we'll get it too! Yeah, and then monkys will fly outa my butt.......
