Couple of questions that a search was unable to answer.

Do you fly 200s and 700s when based in ORD? Do the lines have a mixture of both a/c or do you bid for the equipment separately?
How many lines/reserve lines are there in ORD? and are many of those lines day trips?

Lastly, the packet I got in the mail said that pay begins after passing the aircraft checkride, I thought pay began day one? Is this a misprint?

Thanks in advance.

Yes

No more lines, entire company is now PBS. You can bid to fly either, or both.

Hmm, not exactly sure. I think over 100 lines are built with PBS, with a reserve compliment.

and are many of those lines day trips?
PBS allows you to bid locals, 2, 3, 4 day trips and stand-ups. A line could have pairings that include each.

I'd heard day one as well. anyone else?

good luck, welcome to SkyWest!

Expanding a bit:

re: 1) You can either bid for one or both, but your line depends on your prowess with PBS and how well those above you bid. My line next month is a mix of 200/700 standups, at a roughly 1/2 ratio (luckily, no -900s here). I did not specify a type aircraft, so that was a crap shoot as to the division.

re: 2 & 3) There still seem to be a few more 700 pairings however and the last lines we had 57 -700 lines and 50 -200 lines. For August, PBS had a guarantee build of 117 lines, and with 147 FOs, not all are likely to get a full line. Given vacation, training and folks moving on to upgrades, there were likely more lines built, but the bottom 'line holder' of the 147 is unknown really (unless he or she comes forward; it is possible to ping the PBS folks and find out how many lines were eventually created, but we'll leave that to you in GS).

re: 5) It was my understanding 60 hours per month pay in training, so perhaps the pay they reference is either line or reserve. Just call and ask--it wouldn't surprise me if that letter has not changed in years, as often the left hand doesn't talk to the right here at SKYW.

This is absolutely perfectly stated.

Is it possible to skip the "job fair" and just send in the resume, or is that a not going to work, even if I have 121 exp? thanks for the info

have u taken a look at the skywest website? there is a section there where u can apply and attach your resume. u are not required to go to an open house.

if you go to an open house, theres a better chance you will get an interview. They get thousands of resumes. Open houses are personal contacts.

They start pay your first day of training @ 60hrs

Regarding the pay issue: From day one of ground school until the day you pass your sim check, your pay is the 60 hr guarantee, bearing in mind that the pay periods end on the 15th or so and the end of the month, and if your class date is somewhere in between periods, your check will not be for 30 hours the first time. After you pass the sim check, you move to the 75 hr guarantee, which includes the IOE period. There is no per diem for newhire ground school and sim training, only for transition or upgrade. Per diem is paid for IOE. This is true for both EMB and RJ newhires, btw.
