I was just wondering if anybody thinks that a new hire ground school might happen as a result of an attrition rate of 20/mth. If so what aircraft?

I see skyw is taking resumes on their website. Do they have a pool of applicants waiting for a class date or are they going to be interviewing for the new classes? Is SLC still junior?

Hmmm... Where dija get that figure? I thought SKYWEST pilots were happy? I wouldn't think 20/month are moving on are they?

Just wonderin.... When I was @ Mesa, we were losing probably 15-20 a month, but pilots would just quit out of frustration with nowhere lined up to go...

Explain.....

Uhhh...

SkyWest is a regional airline and as a workplace a pretty good place to be "stuck" for a while: get on, work with a good group of people, upgrade in a relatively short time and then move on.

Recently, some of the Majors have started hiring for the first time in many years, now we're seeing some movement off the top at SKYW: JBLU, CAL, SWA are taking our guys on, and many of the UAL furloughs we took on are going back to the mothership.

Some guys may make a career of the regional world, but I think most would (and should) leave if a mainline opportunity came up. As far as I know, none of these guys are making a lateral move to another carrier of the same position, they are moving up the career chain to a major airline...

Explained?

There is a pool of 48 people waiting for a class. SLC hasn't been junior - usually takes a few months to get there. SLC has been seeing reductions in lines too. People have been mainly going to ORD and COS, DEN is doable in a few months or smaller domiciles like Tuscon you can get relatively quickly.

I heard online that Skywest will be starting a Houston base again in the very near future. Flying 50 seaters for Continental. Anyone else heard this? I think that would create some movement if it were true.

I don't know about that. management has made it clear that they don't want more 50 seaters. It's a possibility if they used existing 50 seaters to do the flying.
