Our site says they are currently filling EMB newhire classes. When they start I do not know. Also don't know when they will run another jet class.

There's a new hire brasilia class running right now with more to follow in the upcoming months. I think all of the jet classes in the near future will be for either transitions or upgrades. Holding a line will depend on what domicile you get. Upgrade can be as short as 1.5 years depending on the domicile.

Um, Homer, I really hope you don't dispatch the CRJ's, because there is no such thing as a CRJ-500. The 50-seaters are CRJ-200's.

life on reserve is slow. averaged about 4-7 days working a month in fat.

about the same at LAX.....It's a beautiful thing.....:pimp: the hardest month i've worked was this month....14 days....5 of them were on my days off.....good ********************

Skywest people, help me out.
I need to decide if I should make a lateral move from a different regional.(line FO)
Pros & Cons?

Depends,

If you are working somewhere where there is no growth & the possibility of losing flying then maybe. (such as Pinnacle, Mesaba or Coex). If you work for a good regional (Horizon) and don't commute then I'd stay.

Will you be commuting? If so & you have a family then STAY WHERE YOU ARE! Unless your willing to move or you will go back on reserve.

If you do decide to come and they call you and say, "we have an EMB class, or you can wait for an RJ newhire class" do yourself a favor, TAKE THE EMB!!! The pay is the same (1st year), you'll get a line faster = better QOL.

Good Luck

No family. Not worried about commuting but got spoiled on the RJ + good work environment, schdeule and benefits. Yes, future is uncertain here, but is Skywest any better?

which company do you currently work for? and how long have you been there?

Hello, I dont have much to say, but If you come here all your wildest dreams will come true!

If we are getting more jets, BRO guys will hold a line faster.

What are the new hire reserve schedules like? # days on and # days off? Interviewing with SkyWest in April and just wondering about QOL on reserve as well. Any info is appreciated.

Reserve is 10 days off...usually 5 on 2 off, sometimes 4 on 3 off. QOL on reserve for FOs is pretty good, don't get used much. 1 month I never got called once to fly.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't a regional FO actually WANT to fly to get hours, upgrade and move on? I would think not getting used at all in a month would be bad (ie. you are getting no flight time). How is 5 on 2 off in any way good? I think it sucks!

SIC time isn't worth much. Your seniority number increases each month whether you fly or not. Thus, not flying will not hurt you (as log as you have 2500TT/1000crew by the time your number is called.)

As soon as you upgrade then you can fly your butt off and hope that 1,000 PIC gets you somewhere...

Well, you still need TT. You all crack me up. Lazy as all heck and then you complain that you didn't get hired at FedEx, UPS, SWA, etc.

BTW, getting a job is not about hoping...it takes a lot more than that. You will see.

Hmmm, and then you have this in your profile....

Ratings: Don't need any....I'm a chick!

i got a bone to pick....why do you guys call it a BRO? there is no O in the name Brasilia. The proper nickname for it is turbo taco, mexican king air, or my favorite...weedwhacker. once again....it is not a BRO please stop calling it that.

thanks

How senior is ORD? How long would you guess it would take to get there?

If you get a jet class, ORD right out of training. Prop class, 1 year for your seat lock.

I'll correct you, the dream is over! We lost the war! Now, instead of it being about dollars and days off, it is just about days off!

I'd retire w/ SkyWest.

On that note, how long (best guess) would it take a new hire to get SLC. How is the quality of life in SLC?

And, :) what are the chances I'd get the BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we should all lighten up a bit. No one gets out alive.
