How 'bout a new hub at DFW?

If the weather is so bad at Salt Lake, Delta should just move the hub to DFW! The weather is usually pretty good here. Oh wait, I already sold my house. Never mind.

You know what they say about DFW.... or is that Texas? Also, an RJ hub there didn't work.

Boy this thread has taken a turn for the worst. On the one hand I understand why the General is upset with Delta being in financial trouble and then losing even more money with this Cat II problem at SkyWest. On the other hand I understand the SkyWest pilots getting defensive when their ability to fly in and out of SLC is being criticized. For everyones sake hopefully SkyWest can work with Collins to get the problem fixed SOON.

SkyWest maintenance is in the process of upgrading the CRJ's back to Cat II today. Don't know the timeframe for completion, but my desk passdown has upgrades on it so I know it's happening.

Well, I just flew one of our RJs this morning out of SLC, and guess what, MX control had us pull off the CAT II inop sticker. They must have fixed that one last night. Sure is great to work at a place with great MX. A note from our fleet manager says that there will be many more fixes in the coming days. And I stress the word 'days'

UHHH....... yeah except for the numerous thunderstorms in the summer with big reroutes and shutting down the airport. Oh and lets not forget the occasional winter ice storms. Yeah DFW is the place to be (NOT)!

Hey Props!

I second THAT!!!

But you gotta give the guy a break. I mean he does work for EXPRESSJET!

"Hey! Let's petition the FAA for a CAT II into BTM!!"

Better yet, lets give it back to DAL. I'm not afraid to say that circling/VFR maneuvering there at night scares me.

What's the deal General? Usually your arguments aren't sophomoric in nature, such as this one. Disagree without being disagreeable okay? You know these things happen. A few years ago a DAL jet took out the approach lights at SLC during the winter, probably did a number on the on time percentage for SkyWest as well. You get all torqued off Christmas shopping and decide to take it out on SkyWest?

Russ,

Come on buddy, I was just asking what the deal was in my initial post on this thread, and I even asked you for the story. Then it blew up. My cousin was stuck in Salt Lake last Saturday and I wanted to know why. Sure, things happen, and I have said that all along. If you look back at most of my posts, I always said "safety first." But, it is frustrating to hear that 50% of flights were not even completed one day---due to this servo problem. And yes, I know ASA and Comair aren't Cat 2 qualified, but you guys were, and I was wondering what happened and when it would be fixed. That's my story.....

General,

Just FYI, Last Saturday RVRs barely broke 1000 all day. So even CAT II would not have been much or any help for your cousin. On a Deadhead back into SLC on Sunday, I sat up front on a Delta 75 in which we shot a CAT III and autolanded. Skywest was still launching, but could not get back in with 600/600/600. As you already know, we need 1200 RVR.
