XJT when the stock dips down below $5. It seems SKYW buys any airline that gets some of its flying. Since XJT took the ASA flying in LAX and will also be doing some SLC flying, I'll bet SKYW will buy XJT if the stock goes below $5. Some analysts have the target at $3. Then they would own the regional flying at DAL, UAL, and CAL.

I'm gonna take that a step further and say that SKW buys XJT and uses the certificate to start their own branded flying setup like XJT already has planned...with the old SKW COO as the president of the new airline.

I'll disagree with that! I think the regionals have peaked. The majors are starting to take control of the flying again. I think the best days for the regionals are behind us. Maybe the ones that have lots of money and vision can diversify, but as a whole the industry is in decline.

Skywest is buying......Skyway. The wholly-owned Midwest regional. The company is crumbling and I'm sure Midwest wants out. Skywest will get it cheap and have a new cetificate for next to nothing. They will be able to eliminate most of the jobs at Skyway and I expect they will get an exclusive deal with Midwest and end up providing most of the future growth for Midwest with various sized RJ's. They will probably ditch the 328's and the poor pilots at Skyway will be out of work. Judging by what's happening at ASA I think any unionized pilot group that gets bought by Skywest will be broken up and flushed down the toilet. I'm happy for the Skywest guys, it must be nice to work for a really good company and I can understand if they don't want a union. If it were me though, I would feel bad seeing my company buy out other airlines and destroy the careers of those pilots.

Bing, Bing, Bing..... We have a winner! Skyway. Midwest got rid of their ramp personal and contracted through Skyway to cut costs. Skywest has contracted for RJ flying with Midwest mainly because Midwest Air Group doesn't have the resources to upgrade their own RJ fleet. Most of the Majors have subcontracted their regional flying and have cut loose their wholely owned carriers. Skywest runs many a ramp operations nationwide. (Although United is certainly not happy with the situation in DEN. However United is never happy with anyone). Skywest is hurting for pilots especially for the added flying in MKE (who wants to base in MKE? Although little known secrete, quite the party town in summer)! and Skyway pilots would be perfect to fill that void. As for buying Midwest proper? Skywest will stick with what it knows best. Flying regional service for other carriers. Only three other regional carriers have tried flying on their own. ACA (aka: Independence Air) bankrupt. Mesa (aka: Go!, and Air Midwest) and Express Jet. Both outcomes are unknown. Skywest would be wise to watch those operations first. I don't believe Skywest has ever flown their own routes although I could be wrong. Never really understood the name branding that Skywest does if you fly everyone elses brand. Skywest is an excellent choice to take over the Midwest Connection portion of Midwests operation. That's what I think however, I'm the first to admit that I know nothing about nothing!

I don't think SkyWest would run the risk of buying Skyway when the Midwest-AirTran merger is still hot in the works. If that were to happen, SkyWest would be stuck with nothing, since AirTran would likely take the axe to ALL the flying. I think if you see some type of deal between SkyWest and Midwest - it will probably result in the complete purchase of Midwest (operated on it's own under SkyWest Inc.) or a large "investment" in Midwest which would protect them from a hostile takeover. Just a thought - but then again - what do I know. I suppose I'll find out after I get back from the desert in a few months...
