Hey, I live in Chicago and Im just about ready to throw an application to skywest. My times are 1020 and 200. I have heard that if you dont have any turbine time they throw you to fresno california in the bro. I know that the most junior base for the crj is my home city, which would make the most sense. Anyone know how they determine where your base would be, or if i did have to go to california, how quickly i could transition to the crj and move?
Thanks

If you get awarded the Brasilia it will be a minimum of 1 year before you can transition to the jet (getting ORD should be no problem). However, many people without jet experience have been getting the jet lately, so you may want to just try your luck. Most people with your times getting hired have a recommendation of some sort from the inside, so it'd be best if you could work that out. If not, though, don't hesitate to apply.

Yeah i have an inside connection. I just think it would make sense for me to get the chicago base since i live there. But hey, why don't i worry about getting the job first and then i can worry about that other stuff right?

<Sigh> When will people finally get the message about staying away from places that don't pay during training. No wonder the downward spiral continues. The "all about me" syndrome is alive and well...

Must be nice to be able to go without a paycheck for 2+ months...

I interviewed back in the early May and was awarded the CRJ. I have no turbine time. There were several people in my interview class that had the same amount of time as you so I think you should have no trouble getting an interview. It might be awhile before they call you though; (2 Weeks to a month).

From what we were told, Denver, Salt Lake, and Chi-town are the main bases that they are hiring into.

Good luck!

The most recent class of RJ new hires was awarded SLC, ORD and COS with COS being the most Jr. Hiring and training is continuing at a rapid pace with 30-50 new pilots every 3 weeks.

They need pilots to fill the seats of the new UEX jets coming so the domiciles growing the fastest will probably be ORD, DEN, and maybe COS. It is true that many low time guys have gotten the jet. These are also the most likely to wash out in training. It just depends on the individual.

It sucks to not get paid for 2 months, but I don't think that will change until EVERYONE stops applying here, or we finally get a union. The company thinks it is saving a bunch of money and pilots are still lined up to work here.

The ASA rumor is alive and well. Everything may change soon but for now the growth and upgrades are coming fairly quick.

ALPA couldn't help ASA, COEX, or Comair avoid PFT so I doubt a union is going to get our newhires a paycheck while they are in training. Maybe we can try and get them the $600 per diem check like my class got.

I know some Brasilia F/O's in Fresno that went to the jet well before their 12 months was up. So I don't think their sticking to the seat lock right now, but I havn't seen anything offical.

A person in my class was given the jet after 5 months. Why they would go to it blows me. If they like sitting reserve and commuting for the same pay, go for it!

.

so .... have they discontinued the group interviews as part of the hiring process? I have checked their website every day since April and have not seen a pilot group interview scheduled yet....

What is the latest on this from the Skywest camp?

They are buying the Airbus 319 to compete with Independence Air on the western coast of the united states.

Same rumors as before........We are buying ASA, and the integration will be DOH.

True? who knows.................

I hear the same, except that it won't be DOH. I've heard it will be 5 to 1.
