Christ I could have thought of five other regionals that needed this a hell of a lot more.

SKYW is becoming a frickin black hole that all RFP's get sucked into...before the others can even touch it.

Anyone know who the other finalists were?

Scope

Is there a scope with Midwest limiting there partners to 50 seat capacity? It seems strange that they would not opt for 700s.

No scope for Midwest, though I do think there's one for Skyway. That's the first thing I asked when I heard about this. But the flying will be done for Midwest Airlines by Skywest, and so they can really do anything they want.
It's a matter of semantics who they're technically flying for, since it's all the same company anyway, but there it is...

"We chose SkyWest because of their experience, their excellent record of operational performance, and a commitment to customer service that mirrors that of Midwest, explained Scott R. Dickson, Midwest Airlines senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Riiight. And guess which of the three has the lowest payscales. Don't even need to give you a hint.

This would have been great for AWAC's who still live in ORD, and even better for Coex who needs to avoid furloughs. Instead the kool-aid at Skyw gets thicker and the upgrade drops even lower. yay

Can the SkyWest FAs handle the cookie baking? Thats the real question. I think we (XJT) lost the RFP because ours couldnt.

I don't know, have you seen our flight attendants lately! It was probably because Midwest was worried they would eat all the cookie dough and there would be none left for the passengers.

Lay-off the Hater-ade bro!

Here's what I don't understand about this line of thinkng: when your union goes in to negotiate pay rates, I'm sure one of the main talking points (rightly so) is that pilot pay scales have a minimal impact on overall operating costs and a negligable impact on the ability to obtain new flying.

Then new flying is awarded to another carrier and you attribute its loss primarily to pilot payscales.

You can't have it both ways...

I guess CEO Rankin really didn't have something in mind for the Midwest Deal. Well let's see about how well Skywest can provide " THE BEST CARE IN THE AIR"

Excellent point . . .

Good point, I agree you can't have it both ways...Anyways I will continue to uphold the bar. But you know the cost is not always the case...Maybe the quality of the planes are a problem... Maybe this will drive AWAC upgrade to under 2 years...hopefully

And the SLAPS in the face continue for us Skyway folks........what a joke.

No ill feelings toward you Skywest folks, I DO understand your just trying to earn a living.

Was Skyway in the running?

Our EMB 50 seater program is growing mold on the shelves at the training center right now. It was approved(can't remember dates.....2000 mabye), order was placed(then canceled......after 9/11) and it seems mother Midwest doesn't feel we have what it takes apparently to operate our own aircraft.

I'll see if I can find any old info.........................

Hmmm, let's see.. Give %2 increase spread out to 4 years and no salary increase to BROs and get 20 more additional airplanes making you money. Those people who didn't even vote at all in the pay increase make me sick.

Jet servicing to stay

City may get those jobs, not new Midwest Express flights

Midwest Express and Skyway Airlines will maintain their new jet aircraft in Milwaukee, but they may use the planes to start or expand service elsewhere, airline spokeswoman Lisa Bailey said Wednesday.
What routes the planes fly is tied to the fate of a property tax exemption for state-based airplanes that is pending in the Wisconsin Legislature, Bailey said.
On Tuesday, Midwest Express announced plans to buy 20 Boeing 717s, with options for 30 more. Skyway, its commuter partner, will purchase 20 Embraer regional jets, with options for another 20. Both carriers are owned by Midwest Express Holdings Inc., Oak Creek.
Altogether, the planes will require the addition of about 1,000 people to Midwest Express Holdings' staff of 3,354, Bailey said.
Maintenance workers will be added in Milwaukee, she said. Crews will be based in Milwaukee and Omaha, Neb., where Midwest Express has hubs. The airline is also building a hub in Kansas City, Mo., but Bailey said the company has no plans to base crews there "in the foreseeable future."
However, additional customer service agents, baggage handlers and other staff needed to deal with planes when they are on the ground will be added in proportion to where the new service is provided, she said.
The 717s are to start joining the Midwest fleet in March 2003, with the Embraers coming to Skyway a year earlier. The planes will be used to expand service on existing routes and start service to new cities.

It's vague(sp?), but you get the picture.

3000 by the end of 07'

This will give Skywest Airlines (not INC.) 290 airplanes, this explains why they wanted 3,000 pilots by the end of 2007! In all Skywest Inc. will have 440 airplanes and 4,500 pilot by the end of 2007. This makes Skywest Inc. -Target and Republic-Wal-Mart and Mesa K-Mart.

Amazing what happens when you fly for free hu? Farking losers. My jumpseat just went all union even if you guys aren't. And spare me the crap. My professional courtesy is extended to professionals. Not jerkoffs who hurt us all. I've had it with you people.
