sure i understand being bitter, been there done that!!!

but I never called anyone a scab, because I have never met one. You though are a rookie/bitter/pissed/jerk-off, and I feel good saying that. No real airlinepilot would call skyw pilots scabs, thats just a slap in the face to eastern/united/cal pilots. If you wana look for scabs go look in the majors for airtran pilots even though they are a regional airline.

Yep...you have to pimp the system too......I'm a second year/fo, spent the first half of the year on 1st year pay and on reserve, the second half of the year with a line on second year pay and i'm going break 30k gross without working too hard this year...believe it people, it's possible

Same thing for me at Comair though i'm pushing 38k 2yr FO, spent the first half of the year on 1st yr pay and the 2nd half on 2nd yr pay. Plus I'm on reserve or else it would be higher.

Regardless of who you are or who you work for, if you're an airline pilot, flying jet aircraft and don't make at least six figures, you're underpaid.

WEll...

I dunno about 3/4 year pay, but at 5/6-year pay it is possible (flying only the line; did it last year and will again this). If I could only get that checkairman override, my margin would even be greater--damn the MAN!

Hm, d*mn automatically gets changed to dang...what's up with that?

Children........behave yourself!!!!!!!

My experience:

First year: $27K
Second Year: $47K+

No open time/volunteer flying. Training delays may take a chunk out of your first year pay.

I include per diem in my income because I never cook and always eat out anyway. If my SO cooks, it's from Whole Food$ so it would be cheaper to eat out... If you cook on the cheap at home, then you should not include per diem in your pay math.

rickair - Are you SkyWest? I'm curious to what first year ends up for most people, since I just found out that the wife and kids actually like to eat food now and then.... I hit yr 2 next october.

And with language like this your a true professional airline pilot? You still are bitter. Get some help.

Reserves are pretty heavily utilized right now, so unless you end up in some corner where you are on reserve but not getting called:

$1900/mo credit
$500-600/Mo. per diem.

This assumes no volunteering on your days off, but you can call them on your reserve days and ask to be flown vice sitting around (right now you probably won't have to call them...)

An easy way to rack it up on reserve is to ask for trips in some large base other than your own (like ORD). They'll send you out there, you get per diem and hotels the whole time, and you get deadheads to and from your domicile. The deadhead$ can add up if you're going from the west out to ORD.

$58,000 is possible on 2nd year pay. Here is my pay for the year so far broken down.

Vac pay= 3hrs= 103

Why only 3 hours of vacation pay? If you are in your second year, shouldn't you have at least 7 days (26 hours) of vacation. Most people would have two weeks, 14 days at 3.75/day = 52.5 hours.

What's up with only 3 hours? I am guessing you have lots of unused vacation at this point.

Well, I'm a third grade teacher and constantly think about flying. But to throw my teacher credentials in here, I look for the meaning instead of spelling and grammar...unless it's a spelling test:) Of course, I assume most of you are older than my students...

I only used 3 hours of vacation. I'm saving it until after I upgrade when it's worth almost twice as much. I've got about 60 hours saved up
