I was looking at SkyWest fleet schedule and it says that they are not getting any new aircraft after October.
Here is the schedule:
http://www.skywest.com/media/fleet_sched.php

Does anyone have an idea about what is coming up? Someone a month or so back, said something about Q400's? I guess that is not really developing but it would have been nice.
Thanks.

Something is going down. They are hireing something like 80-100 a month!!! The training center is packed full. FA classes every week at 30-40 a class.

They're getting plenty of aircraft, they're just gently used.

I believe they got one the other day, actually.

I wonder how many of those guys are willing to fly struck work?

So far as their hiring goes, as soon as ASA has a contract, look for things to really slow down there.

Go Work for them.....19 dollars an hour to fly a 900 and no union....the industry loves em they ARE raising the bar.

When was the last time the union helped you out, or did any good for your job?? Unions anymore are useless

I wouldn't bet on it. I hope you're right, but the hair on the back of my neck says all of this hiring means something more. The olive branch was thrown down when JA asked ASA's MEC what needed to happen to get this contract signed. So he fired the company lawyer. Still no movement on the unions part. In fact just the opposite, a strike vote. Now he's ready to bust a union and keep the same one off his crown jewel.

I wish it weren't so, but ASA's union isn't going to bend until there are a significant amount of its members on the street.

Remember full pay to the last day...some of us will get to say this longer than others.

So they don't have a union. A union isn't the promised land. They are saving 2% of their pay, making more, and growing. We continue to worship Herndon and send them our money.

Struck work is going to be hard to define, and that is assuming we even got a release. Both ASA and Skywest flew CMR aircraft and CMR passengers during their strike. ALPA lost the alter-ego battle years ago and now it is catching up to them.

Once again Jeger... you are right on. You have seen this movie before haven't you? Are you going to get a T-shire this time?

That means so much to a man who's scrubbing garbage pails! Unfortunately, it is the truth. ALPA had rather win a battle of principle rather that win the war. After all, ALPA is protecting the interests of the mainline carriers where of course you all aspire to be someday (Delta, United, Northwest, US Air, they're all doing so well!)

BINGO! Full ALPA dues till the last day......

You can be the poster child for struck work flying. You have made it very clear that you will not support this MEC if a stike is called. You will be given full credit for each flight you complete while you union brothers and sisters are walking the line. You will then have completed your own demise. Your hatred will destroy both you and your much older woman friend.

Interesting comment, coming from a GO JET PILOT.

Lay off on the Skywest guys. They have no more control over their fleet plans and hiring than we do. Like us they are just bumping along and hoping for the best. As far as ALPA is concerned IMHO, they are great safety advocates, they keep management honest, and they have neat stickers. ALPA has not been the promised land and I would not hesitate to move to a good company just because they were non ALPA. I cite the following reasons.

1) I have seen ALPA settle grievances with no regard to the claimant. They tend to trade off things during the grievance process that generally has no benefit to the claimant.
2) When the CDO days off grievance was lost I threw my hands up in the air. The language was so plain and simple yet we lost.
3) There is a small army of ALPA officers getting paid time off with no appreciable movement and no meetings scheduled. However, thanks for the free family nights, those pilots that live in Atlanta, and have the time off and do not have other committments really enjoy them.
4) One ALPA officer slanders another ALPA officer over and over and over. This shows that all is not cherry in the corporate offices of ALPA.
5) An ALPA officer said point plank numerous times that Skywest could not transfer airplanes while we were in negotiations. Wrong, and where is ALPA now?
6) ALPA continually talks about "struck work" yet we flew Comair airplanes when Comair was on strike. I remember all of the posturing during that time. "Technically these are not Comair airplanes", "The Comair MEC is cool with this", "We are waiting on ALPA National to issue a ruling", "Fly and then call your Rep", etc. etc.

This is just a small list of my frustrations. There are more. That being said, ALPA is the horse I am ridding and I plan to stay on it for the entire ride. My point is only to lay off the Skywest dudes. They are doing the best they can with what they have to work with. Their results are no worse than ours.

I probably had the same ALPA officer tell me that we didn't need to worry about Skywest transferring assets. It was a bluff, and even if they did it, it would be illegal.

Layoff this, skywest pilots are one step short of a scab. They decided to go to work for a non union carrier-- no excuses for them to screw us with their SJS syndrome.

Speaking of "raising the bar" what has GO JETS done in that regard lately???Last time I checked you guys were in a tunnel several miles below the "bar"!!

You need to change your name to Ignorant_AuburnRedneck. It's much more fitting.

I thought I've seen some pretty clueless f_cks post on this website but you deserve special recognition.

Which union do you belong to with your biz jet experience?

Hey tool-boy, SKW is the best in the west...if that happened without a union, cool, that saves me 2%.

Maybe there's better regionals in the east, but you wouldn't catch me dead on that side of the rockies, so you can have it (I promise to never bid into your base).

But let me just get this straight...you expect me to either

1) Work for mesa,
2) Work for eagle, or
3) Commute 2500 miles

All for the privilege of paying my hard-earned money to alpa??? Actually I even tried alpa for a while over at mesa...worked just great let me tell you.

You are a F@G.

ps. Horizon is great, but non-commutable from my home.

Please realize he doesn't speak for ASA pilots as a whole. I'm as frustrated and pissed as everyone else here, but most of us realize it's not you guys' fault.
