How long is the DEN contract with United and what is the prospective future relationship with United. Readings suggest the end is near.

What are you talking about? We don't have a specific "DEN contract." The Brasilia's were taken out of there recently because they aren't a good high density altitude aircraft, but the jet flying has been growing. Looking at your profile, I'm sure you're just trying to stir stuff up and really don't care about DEN.

Looks like some new hires are getting DEN right out of class. Some are waiting 2 or 3 months.

Most junior captain in DEN is 11/04. Hope this helps.

Mark my words, Skywest is on schedule to become the next Mesa. Management has totally lost the respect/confidence of our pilot group. When the majors start hiring full steam, Skywest will be parking airplanes. In the good old days when the company got itself in a jam we would all pitch in to make it work because we felt a sense of pride/ownership. Not so anymore. They've made their bed now they've got to sleep in it. Sad, very sad.

[FONT=arial, helv, swiss, tahoma, verdana]War's over, man. SAPA dropped the big one.

What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Germans? Forget it, he's rolling.

And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the going gets tough . . . the tough get going.

Who's with me? Let's Go! Come on! AAAAEEEEEGGGHHHH!! [Mark Nolin runs out of the room alone; then returns] What the fuk happened to the SkyWest I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh?

"Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Mark, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. The Daves, They're a dead man! SAPA, dead! Davermeyer...

Dead! Mark's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons. But that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

[FONT=arial, helv, swiss, tahoma, verdana]We're just the guys to do it.

Let's do it.

LET'S DO IT!

Unfortunately, I think you're correct. Lemmings...all airlines are lemmings. It may take awhile, but they all make the exact same mistakes.

FWIW, DEN/UAX/SkyWest are not parting ways anytime soon. As Rick indicated, we're picking up UAX flying from Mesa.

To which "readings" are you referring?

Uh, no, started in 4/2007, still not in DEN. Awarded COS in NOVEMBER so not as fast as you might think.

I didn't know they were delaying the transfers out that long. Still, six months from DOH to hold DEN isn't too bad. I've been here almost seven years and I'll have to be here another 10 to hold the domicile I want. Put your time in and you'll get what you want.

It's confusing from looking at the awards, newhires are getting the award quickly, but they don't transfer until Oct and Nov.

Next Mesa? I don't think I'd go that far. Yes, morale isn't what it used to be, but I'd still rather be here than any other regional. Are the majors really going to hire "full stream?" One could only hope. Call me an idiot (I'm sure you guys will), but I still have a pride of ownership in my work and my airline.

idiot

My neighbor is in the training department/management at UAL and he said UAL loves Skywest. His words were "they will be in bed along time together". They really think highly of us.

The question is whether or not Skywest can keep enough pilots around to cover all the flying. The attitude amongst the newbies and some of the oldies seems to be, "Get your time and get out!" This is a drastic change from the general attitude when I was hired. I also take pride in MY work but it's hard to ignore what you see around you.

Yes, SkyWest is becoming the next Mesa. This isn't the same company it was even 3 years ago.

Sad part is, most of the senior guys still believe it's the mom and pop operation with some metro's and a new shiny brasilia coming online.

Time for the used car salesmen to start pitchin our 08 rates. (Remember, they are up for review yearly, now).

I agree.

The attitude at all the regionals, though, has always been "get your time and get out." The fact that we get a ton of pilots making lateral moves from other regionals speaks volumes of the quality of our airline compared to others. At least I'm hoping it does... ok... you can call me an idiot again...
