How is that even close to true? If you're still on first year pay, you'd have to fly an illegal amount in order to catch up to what more senior line holding pilots are making wouldn't you? Or does Skywest have some dirty little secret?

propjockey said:My personal feeling on this (I hope I'm not too far wrong) is that this status of "too many" can't last much longer. A big part of the reason we have too many right now is because of schedule cutbacks at both United and Delta. It is the dead time of year, and things should be picking up again soon as we move into spring and summer. Once Delta and United decide to reverse their cutbacks, "too many" will instantaneously revert to "too few." Point is, it changed overnight, and it can change back again overnight.
Attrition has been rather healthy again in the last couple months, also. We lost 50 pilots in the last quarter of 2005. I haven't seen figures for January yet, but I'm guessing we lost about 15 or so.
I also suspect the 5 Delta CRJ-700's that have been "officially" announced won't be the last.
