Ok...the rumor: SkyWest just awarded 200 CA upgrades and is going to freeze everyone's permanent bid for the next 6 months.

Anyone at SkyWest care to comment on reality over there? Are the upgrades because they think they will be awarded more flying? Is this because of the expansion you already had planned? Gonna buy us? Wanna give me DOH seniority? Can we change the company name to SkyWestMidWestEast? ;)

I wouldn't always believe what you hear. Even the following, but here's what I know: I've seen some CA upgrades, but not 200. They have "unfrozen" bids already. As far as I can tell, the reason to freeze initially was to get an idea of where they need people in the next four months (throught April). They wanted to fill transition and upgrade classes and get an idea of how many EMB newhires were needed. I haven't heard much of anything about the Air Whiskey flying. It's mainly all been planned expansion.

Again...remember the grain of salt.

Well, that's what I was thinking an answer would be. Thanks.

United is reducing domestic mainline flying by 14% and shifting a lot of that flying to UAX carriers. That accounts for a great deal of activity.

Which makes you wonder why they are going through this exercise to divee up our flying when they are assigning flying left and right otherwise. Why create more chaos?

Being on the corporate side of flying, I am always a few steps behind with the airline news. If Air Wisconsin flying gets replaced, what will happen to them? Are they done? Will they start an Indy-Air type of thing, etc? Just curious...hope all works out well and no one loses their job.

Your flying may or may not be reassigned. AWAC is one of the bidders. I think AWAC was the only UAX carrier that has not already made a substantial reduction in fee for departures. This could all be a ploy just to get AWAC managment to drop their rates significantly. Personally I'd like to see AWAC keep the flying to prevent it from going to a bottom feeder. That would just put more downward pressure on wages.

Yeah and if they keep their flying maybe their rampers will stop tearing up our RJ's in ORD. Have you seen the amount of damage that has happened to our planes since this whole rebid stuff has come up? Nothing happens to AWAC people but SkyWest takes the hit.

Skywest is getting Northwest flying out of Indianapolis. Expect announcement after the New Year.

I wouldn't worry too much about AWAC flying. I think that United did that just to give them a scare. All the movement is because we are receiving 4 to 5 RJ's per month for the next 5 to 6 months. At 8.7 crews per plane......well you do the math!

Source?

AWAC has done well to keep a solid contract, with good pay and QOL, even through concessions. Their contract puts any other regional/national to shame. With that, the whores of this industry (you know who you are) will come running to under cut them.

In the end, all they are doing is insuring they will be pilot proletariats for the duration of their careers.

I only wish the whores would take one second to THINK.......too much to ask, I know.

Last I heard around:
AWAC flying uncertain, depends on what United wants to do with them.
Northwest flying still in talks, moving forward at a good pace.

8.7? Isn't that a bit high?

Plus one that got hit with a de-ice truck in TVC and one damaged by
a jetway in TYS yesterday.

Or the AWAC A/C that gets the ground power plug and associated hardware pulled out of the nose when Skywest rampers pull back the jet bridge with the power still connected. No it only happens to Skywest doesn't it?! Skywest have pooched 3 of ours in the last month so quit whinning like an F/A.

Everyones aircraft get dinged almost on a daily basis, no matter which airline or who does the handling, sad fact of life.

Hmmmmmm, a jetway isn't supposed to able to move with ground power plugged in, is it?

And maybe skywest can hire some people down in MEM with an IQ higher than a rock!

Is that possible? I thought all the "smart" people in MEM worked for FEDEX!

At least on the UAL side, didn't we hire many of the same people that worked for *another* carrier that ran the UAL station?

Began with an "A" or something..............

Where else but in aviation would a company represented by a union allow the relacement of a contractor represented by the same union with a non-union company? Thanks ALPA and UAL pilots!

Chicago didn't seem to get much growth with the last group of upgrades. Most of the new upgrades will be headed to Denver.

Good luck

(Oh...AWAC as in "America West." I thought you meant SkyWest was getting E-3 Sentries. Never mind.)

True story. Makes me wonder if these same geniuses leave the hose
in the car after they finish getting gas and then drive away.

TYS is Knoxville and a SkyPest station. If ORD used their space like you live in the lap of luxury in DEN we'd have room for half as many planes, maybe less.

'Puff, Puff......here man take another hit, before you come back to reality'

First UAL gets everyone in a bidding war, the next step will be the mergeing of the feeders and the stapling to the bottom of the 'highest' bidders.

ALPA Question

I hope I don't open a can of worms with this question. I was wondering if ALPA would have a role in the scenario of Skywest taking Air Wisconsin's flying in this bid that's going on right now. The reason I ask is because you have a bunch of non-union pilots taking jobs away from ALPA union members. Wouldn't ALPA have to take some type of action here? Would they? Thank you in advance!
