Can anyone tell me what their commuting policy is since I will be commuting? i assume it is the standard two flights prior to check in time. If it is'nt, can somebody tell me what it is?

There is no commuting policy.

This SHOULD be the end of this thread...Reasonable question asked, the correct answer given, and no off-topic discussion or flame. But something tells me we aren't quite done with this thread just yet.

Sometimes if you call crew support and tell them you won't be able to get on a flight because it's oversold, weight restricted, etc they'll must ride you on the flight. They do this quite a bit around the holidays.

I have seen commuters often get given space positive, including this past weekend, if they are not able to jumpseat.

If you don't make it, are reprimanded in any way? or do they just put you back into your trip? thanks

No reprimand for me

I was commuting back home from a vacation and didn't make. I missed a 4-day and the gave me gave me 1 emergency day ( death sickness in family) and sat reserve for the last 3 days i was supposed to be working. The main thing is be honest and don't make it a habit and you'll be alright.

I tried for an entire afternoon/evening once to get to ORD to do a standup. Everything either canceled or was SUPER delayed. I kept CS in the loop, and they were cool about it and assigned it to a reserve. I never did make it there that day, and never heard anything about it.

How cool they will be about it will depend on many things. The biggest thing being if there is coverage for the flight available. If the flight cancels because you don't make your commute, you will be in hot water. If they have a reserve they can throw on it, you are probably ok. That said, most guys don't risk it. If the commute goes bad, they call in sick.
