Hello,

Just wondering how furloughed UAL guys like it (or not) at Skywest and Chatauqua. I'm furloughed, and I am considering both companies.

Also, is the year 2 pay rate going up at Skywest?

As far as Chautauqua, where is the EMB 145 based? I'd really like an MCO or LGA base.

Thanks, and keep on keepin on

Keep in mind that you will not earn one cent for the two months you will spend in training at SkyWest (CRJ, slightly shorter time for the EMB120).

As far as I know there is no new agreement between SW management and SAPA. If I understand the agreement between UAL and ALPA, UA will kick in the difference to bring you up to second year jet pay, which is about $34/hr...a far cry from the $19.02/hr slave wage of any other first year SW pilot.

Is Chautauqua flying the Embraer 170? If so I'd try to get on that aircraft since it will possibly give you some opportunities and choices in the future.

Cheers!

GP, former UAL

EMB upgrade at Skywest just went at under one year, and CRJ CA was just below two years. FYI...

Nope, a friend is about to go to emb ca class who hasn't been here a year yet, and CRJ is going about six months junior to me, and i've barely been here 2.5 years. You have to go to IAH, DEN, or ORD though. If you want PSP CRJ, well, that takes about 15 years with the company.

Just out of curiosity, how senior is SLC for EMB/CRJ new hire FOs??

I was considering trying to get hired some time next year, by going to a career fair that SW is having. Thanks to

I was hired at CHQ dec 20th and they told us that we should be ready to upgrade quickly (less than 2 years) so the captian pay at CHQ would beat the FO pay at Skywest. That's what they're telling us anyway.
I am a CHQ Cpt, 2 years is not correct. Guys are upgrading now after 2 years but that trend will not continue. Look for 4+ years now for new hires.
Great place to be though, Pilots are happy, good bunch of people to work with. Pay is never enough.
Union, Teamsters 747
No JR manning
Commuter clause
12 or so bases depending on the month (too many bases)

4 Codeshares right now, 5th to be announced in Jan/Feb
Look for fleet to be all 170's. CEO wants to dump all 145's

A bunch of guys (about 30) were just awarded EMB upgrade at SKYW in less than 2 years: would have be 20 months for me from DOH if I had taken it. I'd expect that timeframe to remain average and perhaps go more juinior with all the new aircraft arrivals. I'm looking forward to CRJ upgrade coming in the next few months at around the 2.5 year mark.

Good day,

I am still at United, but have 2 friends that were furloughed and went to Sky West. 1 is still there, and the other moved on to a corporate gig. I have heard overall it is not a bad company to work for. They pay is quite low the first year, but it rises significantly from what I have heard. Good treatment for a regional.
I do not kow anything about the other carrier as a company.

Take care,

yeah and when us airways possibly tanks they can again furlough out of order if they so desire. several friends were higher up and lost their job after 9-11.. furloughed out of order

go teamsters
