Come by, I'll be mixing and you can have the mike!

:smash:
And I'm sure ALPA will be trembling when you do joey! How's it feel to impress one's self all the time? You're a broken record, and most (official poll :)) are tired of reading it.

Call my # again missed the call. However, a larger % of his information has come to pass.

too many asa pilots live in a vaccum and have no idea what the rest of our industry (if they even know what that is) is going through. all regionals are suffering - asa is doing a better job than most at finding new hires. tsa, pinnacle and a few others are hiring pilots asa wouldnt ever allow to an interview (excluding interns).

skywest is losing as many pilots as asa, and just wait if nw and united start to hire.

asa has hired 20 a class since january and thats at 2 classes per month minimum. and from what i have been told our class average has yet to drop below 1000 hours total time.

Skipper,

I'd say the "average" is misleading a bit. The fact that ASA has the lowest minimums for hiring in the "regional" catagory is scary.

I have flown with a hand full of Captains who say the newhires are lacking skills across the board, and that means the Captains are basically single pilot operators.

Combine this with the big number of senior IP's that are jumping ship and we have a bad combo going on at ASA.

God forbid, that ASA have a tragedy with a big loss in life, and the media finds out that the Combo of pilots was low experience in the repective seat, and ASA/Delta Connection having the lowest hiring minimums in the industry.

Granted, this combo is in many Regional airlines, I just pray it doesnt come true.

Negative. TSA has gone down to 250 TT. Just about all the others are knocking the bottom out mins to get applicants in the door.

You might want to talk to an IP about your numbers. The last class had two people over 1000 hours and the rest (18 people) were around 400 hours. Good luck to the training department and I hope our MX dept is doing good gear inspections!

The total time of our pilot newhires is another issue- here's one of the biggest issues........

Our ALPA representatives are meeting on May 4th and 5th and there ought to be a darned good turnout. With all the concerns here we should have quite a few people discuss and voice their opinion. Especially on scope and the possibility of pushing for a single, "transparent" list. We can support our MEC/CNC while still voicing our concerns- so let's do this where it matters. This is OUR airline and OUR future here guys. If we don't speak up, we're in for a short ride while others around us prosper at OUR expense.

I did not authorize that poll. It is not official until we poll the entire GO and all of JB's buddies.

And that's one record I don't mind hearing over and over. JB, the voice of reason!!!

I think you mean I hope 'our MEC addresses this' right? I thought one of the big ideas was that local MECs are an empowered lot [many times I've heard the union is only as good as the people you vote in locally], so why hope that national jumps in? It would seem you could make better headway by going right after your own folks to settle for what you want; that's my main beef with ALPA--seemingly too much influence and probably administration from the top (they should be there to BACK your efforts, not direct or change them); union benefits arguable, none should come at the expense of loss of empowerment locally. Maybe you mean ALPA=MEC, but that's not the impression I got.

601: In the CP's office? Okay Machiavelli, I'm sure that tactic will really work in your favor. Actually, that mindset is probably counterproductive; I don't think you should ever be 'past' professional. Nicely done.

Your right SKYWRJGUY. Actually, ALPA national is influencing our negotiations because they want to prove to you Skywest pilots that they are worth the money. They don't really care what happens to ASA in the long term as long as they can get the Skywest pilots to join ALPA. After Skywest joins ALPA, ALPA won't really care if Jerry transfers assets to Skywest - the dues will still come in.

ALPA's primary interest is protecting ALPA - individual members within ALPA can be thrown under the bus if it protects ALPA......

Okay genius, you come talk to me when you actually have to "negotiate" for your contract rather than ride the coat-tails of your fellow pilots.

Wait i thought we were bottom feeders for our low 70 rates...... Im pro ALPA, have my card in too, but that statement is bunk.

ALPA took Joey's ball from him, won't let him play with ALPA any more, and he hasn't been the same since! He's lost all credibility, and is not respected by the vast majority of ASA pilots. Same old trash talk against ALPA. Impresses himself with what he writes on flightinfo!

I find it hilarious that any contract thread that starts on the web boards he feels the need to remind us of his position. As if we could forget. I promise him this though. I certainly won't forget his service as 112 sec/tres.

Harumph.

If I had a snappy comeback for a stupid statements [the original just reproduced], I'd insert it here: _______.

The Genius

That is why "coat tail riding" is so brilliant. We can just kick back, relax and let the other guys do the heavy lifting. Why anyone would go to all the negotiating trouble when riding on coat tails is much more efficent is beyond me. ALPA definately must have some good frosty kool aid.

Wow...this sounds just like the remarks made by the "non-union" pilots who crossed the picket line at EASTERN! YOU have just given yourself your own label!

Not just my position WWEfan, many other pilots agree.... ALPA needs to listen a little better... What is ALPA's position on the whipsaw and "brand scope"? Please remind us again what ALPA is doing????
