OK, alot of messages regarding this topic are all other site, but not in one place. Skyway people tell me and others what the chances (rummored etc..) of the deal going through with Delta. What are your insights and worries about this issue... What will happen if it does not go through (pilots being fired, loose jobs?)

Thanks all info would be great as I am trying to form some sort of outlook regarding this topic.

Best

If Delta files all bets are off. If not, Skyway should get 30 328's. If they don't then we will have too many pilots to fly 10 DoJets and 12 1900's. There will be some pilots on the street and many of us will flow back to FO's. How many is anyones guess. Delta doesn't even know the status of the Skyway/Delta deal, I'm sure they are busy tring to keep their own ship floating. Do you feel lucky?

Luck, man I need to call Miss Cleio the psychic and get my reading for that one!
What is your guess one D Deal? Do you think it will go through and if so when?

Dude I don't know, no one knows. Not even Santa. The fact is that if Delta files Chapter 11 then all contracts are void. I'm prety sure Delta will not even control the leases of the DoJets if they do file. If they don't file, we will get 30 more airplanes. Many new hires (half is my guess) will go to the Beech to fill the seats of those switching to the 328 if we get more of them. Until I hear otherwise, I will assume we are getting them. But if your looking for an absolute, your not going to find it. How about this,...I'm 64.93% sure the deal will go through. Feel better?

I think that I will just keep looking. If DAL goes BK, then I probably won't be getting a call. Best thing to do is keep looking and hope for the best either way.

Here are my opinons on the deal.

1. Delta does not have a lot of money to spend right now, and I dont see them justifying the 30 new CPT upgrades in the jet, the 50 plus new FOs in the jet, if they will negate the deal.

I would guess that between salary, perdiem, check airman pay, hotels, etc the bill would be in the millions of dollar range. Delta would not throw that money away when they are teetering on the edge of Bankruptcy.

2. If the deal does not go through, how many people would leave for other pastures. I am sure some came here for the quick upgrade, and if that all changes there are a lot of places hiring right now.

3. If the deal does not go through we are the only operator of 328 jets in the US I believe. we can operate the planes effectively, economically, and with excellent maintenance. We might add some to the midwest side or another airline might snatch them up.

4. I dont see Delta writing off or junking 30 planes in the midst of Bankruptcy. I know there are airports and bases for midwest that would be perfect for the plane, and we can def put them to good use.

just some thoughts

Delta won't have to write them off.. If they file Ch 11 before their deal with ACA ends, ACA will be stuck with the jets.

Unless things get resolved real quick, it looks like all the FRJ's will be grounded effective Nov 1. There's not a single FRJ flight for Delta in the november schedules.

With the shutdown of DFW and more RJ's being delivered, DL doesn't really need the FRJ's. Even if DL avoids BK, they might try to give a few FRJ's to Midwest (for Midwest's own use) and write the rest off OR sign a short term deal with Midwest for a few years and then take the write-off. Either way, I don't see a long future for the FRJ's in Delta colors.

Fallingbrick!

Your answer rocked! Thanks man!
I love the % too.

Thanks all for the answers and have a great weekend.

Justino:

Glad to help. I sure hope the deal works out and you get your call and I a Jet upgrade. To play things safe I would keep looking. No one wants to see another major go BK and the industry continue down the tubes. Whats the point of a quick upgrade if there is no one left to work for that pays more than the crap we are getting now? My $.02.

Keep looking Justino

Hey Justino,
Keep your nose to the grindstone and keep looking. This business is too volatile to get your heart set on only one airline. I really hope the deal goes through too, but until then I'm going to keep looking and applying and networking. There are a lot of airlines hiring right now, so get going. You may have the pleasant problem of choosing which offer to take!
See ya...

If I had an assigned class date but it got pushed back to sometime between Nov.-Jan. Does anyone think I'll actually get a class date? I'm looking for another flying job as hard as i **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ing can... I'm so pissed off right now...Does anybody know anything about Piedmont I have an interview are they going to go down the **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ter anytime soon, Then again everyother year people tell me Piedmont is going down the **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ter. How about somebody give me some direction where I should be looking for a job with 1300 TT and 100 ME. **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to have a break down.
Settle down there fella.... Your acting like your the first person to get a classdate pushed back. You just read why there is so much uncertainty. Do yourself a favor... Apply everywhere and get yourself a 135 freight job to build some more ME time, then see who calls. If your new to the industry, this might be the first in a long line of dissapointments. Get used to it and roll with the punches. You'll be dealt alot of them.

With 1300 tt you are lucky to even have a class date to be pushed back...sheesh.

You may be new to the game, but you weren't born yesterday. Do you think you're the first person to take a pay cut to get to where you want to be?

The passengers that pay to ride on your airline expect an adult in the cockpit. They don't care what you get paid or how much of a pay cut you took to get there. They just want a professional.

If you want a professional job, act like a professional.
