SkyWest will lose all Delta flying, XJT will win that flying, SKW will go out of business, XJT will rule the world!

Thats all.

LOL
Oh, YEAAHH!!!!!!!!
Sure, good one. Hahahaha, yeaahh right!
SkyWest will be victorious just like the 13 British Colonies were when they defeated the Kingdom of Great Britain or when the Union defeated the Confederates.
2008 will be a very interesting year in the airline biz.

I think thats why Skywest has mentioned buying/merging with XJT. IF they buy XJT they get in bed with CAL and gain the additional DAL flying. They would also get a branded operation that Skywest has talked about trying for a long time. Going to be interesting.

Just my personal opinion but I don't see lots of brand recognition with Expressjet. I suspect SkyWest doesn't place much value in the Expressjet branded operation. Not only is the name virtually unknown, but the operation is losing money.

If SkyWest were to buy into a brand, I suspect they would look for a name that had more brand recognition.

I never said they wanted the "ExpressJet" name, i was referencing that Skywest wants its own branded service and XJT has already paid for and built the infrastructure. Also XJT brand recognition is actually pretty good out on the west coast now. I can only assume that you fly alot on the west coast and purchase tickets on a regular bases for travel? The pax really love the service we provide on ExpressJet Airlines. With that said i dont know how much that matters in today's travelers=all about price for most people.

Gotta admit that JA has a set the size of Texas...

Agree whole-heartedly. And, Texas is big.

Tangent time:

Time to note a similarity: JA means what he says and does. In the early 80's, Reagan fired all of the air traffic controllers. The Soviet Union noted this as an indication of what kind of man Reagan actually was. (greatest president EVER.) Thus, there was no need to test his 'mettle'.

I think this an important fact for all stakeholders, internal and external, to note moving forward.

A regional suing their major affiliate isn't unprecedented, even Mesaba sued NW at the beginning of the bankruptcy fiasco. They'll come to some kind of deal. It's all business.

Exactly. And that's the first rule of business: don't take it personally!

Thats fine, we'll just fold our pilots (and dispatchers) in DOH and it'll all be good. How junior is jet CA in SFO/SLC/DEN/SMF?

Not junior enough for you to be lickin your chops! Go dream somewhere else boy! You have no control over any thing that would happen anyways.

Also...

SkyWest has better name recognition that ExpressJet on the West Coast. If SkyWest were to ever buy ExpressJet you can kiss the ExpressJet name goodbye.

You forgot to mention record deficit spending and lack of oversight in the financial sector (remember the S&L collapse fiasco?). All of this caused the economic recession of the late 80s (remember the stock market crash of 88?) and early 90s. The deficit was not reduced until Clinton balanced the budget in the mid 90s. Then the economy prospered until 9/11.

Got to look at the big picture. It kills me when you republicans talk about how Reagan was next to God and Ditka. Sure, he won the "Cold War". But it was at the expense of our economy, our environment, education, labor, and the middle class. What did we really win?

Well for starters if we hadn't of won the cold war we would still have had to maintain a significant military presence all over the world and Clinton wouldn't have been able to balance the budget by being able to cut large amounts of military spending. Also what most people don't realize is that all Clinton did was get a projected balance, that means that the budget would not actually become balanced til 10-15 years later. But I guess thats government accounting for you. I believe that most of the growth of the 90's and increased tax revenues can be attributed to mainstreaming of technology in the business sector. The rise of the computer age was simmilar to a second industrial revolution in terms of productivity.
