Why would either need to be involved? Are you telling me that ALPA will control the training department and how ckeckrides are conducted?

Many MECs have a Pilot Training Review Board and a Training Committee that works with the company on establishing standards for how training and checkrides are conducted. Checkairmen that are consistently causing problems are dealt with, a "training footprint" is established that lays ground rules for what sort of training you'll have to do for busting different events, etc...

Also, most agreements give you the right to refuse a certain checkairman, and also give the right to have a union representative observe your ride.

Let me guess: you haven't been around long enough to have seen the decline over the past few years, right?

When I started here a senior pilot could bid reserve and be assured he would not fly for the month, or if he wanted to be call-first, he could be assured to break guarantee. The bucket system did away with that.

Then we got PBS shoved down our throat (which works for some, but also has MANY drawbacks).

"Reinterpretation" of cancelled legs policy...

Yeah and its great to be f#cking harassed on your two days off because they still can't staff the Mo Fo correctly. Anyone else at SkyWest have this problem? I have bid reserve once or twice to assure I would have some days off and those months are the worst. Bucket system is another filthy concession along with P.ure B.ull S. hit worthless junk software created off the street untested and we weren't given a chance to say yeah or nay. ALPA can do better than sapa.
The slide needs to stop.

As I said before, It's not just about pay.

Amen.

I've got plenty of money coming in as a 4.5 year CRJ capt at SkyWest.

I've got toys and money to enjoy life.

I'm happy with my pay.

I'm pissed that I hardly ever see my wife. I'm pissed that I always feel Crew Support ISN'T and I have no leg to stand on when challenging them...EVEN as a line-holder. I'm tired, and frustrated by the lack of integrity in both our management and our current "representation"(note the quotes). I'll be voting FOR ALPA. You should to, Mr. SkyWest pilot.

It's NOT just about money, folks. When people start seeing that...a union will have a chance at SkyWest.

The "money" needs to keep up with the cost of living! It's getting tougher and tougher to support a family in the more expensive domiciles, especially since we haven't had a COLA since our hire date prior to 9/11...

One interesting tidbit I picked up the other.

Oren-stench is not allowing pilots on the CNC to negotiate their contract. There are meetings but the pilots are out flying, unable to get to the meeting. So to combat this, ASA is sending a team out to do their meetings for them. We'll see how long that turd keeps playing this game before he decides he would rather deal with people on his payroll.
