Before I go knocking on doors, I'm wondering if anyone has info about Skydive Tecumseh based in Tecumseh, MI. I'm looking for quality of maint, pay, and hours required for the job.

Thanks for any help,
averyrm

I can’t tell you about Skydive Tecumseh, but I can tell you about getting a job at a dropzone. The fist thing they are going to ask you is “do you jump?” The skydiving community is small, so they are going to be looking for “one of them”. If you don’t jump then I would suggest that you enroll in their fist jump course prior to inquiring about a job. Again this is just my experience, I do know several guys that fly jumper and have never jumped themselves.
Sorry that I didn’t really answer your original question, just trying to help.

PS
If you want more info on flying jumpers, just ask. I have been doing it for about a year now.
Best of luck

The first DZ I flew for preferred that the pilots not be divers. If they were, that is all they wanted to do.

This late in the year you will probably need to head south or get info in for next spring.

I have not flown Jumpers in years but would have echo Jump Pilot's statement. The DZ's that I flew for did not prefer pilots that jumped. Fly....Jump....Fly....Jump, could'nt ever seem to stay focused. I dont think that it prevents you from a job, just that management prefers greedy pilots that will fly as many loads as the DZ can get each day, and not worry about getting a jump or two in at lunch time or a sunset load.

i am a jumper and used to be the driver. if you are new to jump piloting, check out www.diverdriver.com. it is a pretty good website and lists all aircraft accidents from skydiving operations. If you have never jumped before, you should at least do a tandem so you know what it is like...you might have to bail one day.

I used to fly jumpers at Skydive Michigan in Marshall, Michigan(near Jackson) and also at Skydive Hastings in Hastings, Michigan (near Grand Rapids).

Skydive Hastings has three C-182's and a King Air 90. Awesome, nit-picky maintence, pay was (in 1996) $5.00 a trip up, free lunch and dinner. You could build 500+ hours in a good summer if you were there to fly your butts off. Rick Smith owns/operates the place---very millitant hard ass owner. He is a Northwest pilot so he can relate to any flying question you might have. Kind of a jerk. Real professional operation.

Skydive Michigan has one C-182 and one Beach 18. Maintence is ok, pay is the same as the other, I flew 300 hours there one summer. Owner is absolutely awesome, she is fair, respondsible, and is very flexible. Of the two Skydive Michigan was my personal favorite.

All in all I had a lot of fun and built some good flight time while at school.
