Looks better than any First Class meal I have ever had on AA or DAL.

Sounds like a pretty good experience.
The flight was delayed until approximately 10:15pm. As the passengers from the inbound flight were leaving, the CEO of Skybus came through the door. He had come in to Portsmouth on the plane I’d be going on to Columbus. We boarded through the rear door. With free seating, I chose 12F, had the entire aisle to myself. The load factor was decent, I’d estimate 85% full. The flight attendants were very casually dressed. They were upbeat and very professional. They handed out the inflight duty free/menu magazine, which listed everything they were selling onboard. Service commenced 15 minutes after takeoff. I ordered the Roast Chicken with Rice, Green Beans, and a Roll and a virgin Bloody Mary. I also bought a pillow. Total cost: $27. The rest of the flight was uneventful, and we touched down at 11:55pm in Columbus. We taxied to gate B17, where we deplaned through the front and rear doors (I deplaned through the front). Walked through the Skybus gate area, which is nice. All Skybus flights depart from gates without jetbridges. These gates are obviously the least desirable at Columbus, and there are no amenities in the immediate gate area (you have to go up the long, winding ramp to connect to the rest of the B gates). I proceeded up this ramp, went outside, caught the shuttle to my hotel. Stayed at the Concourse Hotel for the night.
Score (out of 10): 8 (because of the delay).

Never trust a man that drinks virgin bloody marys.

Typical comments from others on that site about the report:

"Thanks so much for the trip report. It is a great thing to hear about Skybus which is a great thing for US aviation in my opinion. It might drive quality down on other airlines, but I appreciate the opportunity to get some cheaper fares."

"I thought the food cost you about $20 bucks, but thats good that it was only about 12 dollars. I would mind cheap fares, if i wouldnt mind having to pay 10-15 bucks for food on a flight as long as the tickets are cheap. Checking Skybus' website, i realized that not all their tickets are that low."

Here's a seasoned pilot flying on a start-up with Jr. that just got got his ATP... need any of us say any more?

More screening?

what happens if you whip out a candy bar or something?? Do they toss you off??

You'd never get it aboard in the first place. They hire professional gluttons who can smell food at a hundred yards, and station one in each jetway.:p

Oh. I wondered what a retired Delta pilot would do with his time... ;) :D

Sorry, Tom, couldn't resist the hanging curve ball. TC

Well lets see...at US we pack 124 people into an A319 (including 12 FC seats). I think I read somewhere on the SkyBus website they pack 156 pax into their A319.

Wow.

Taking the magazine pocket out does look like a good idea. It almost appears as though it's molded to rotate around your legs when the person infront of you reclines their seat into your lap.

It looked like a good gig, with the fringe bennie of all that confiscated food, but alas, I flunked the final exam. They had a midget simulating a kid with a lollipop, and he got me in a hammerlock. I was told "you're lucky it wasn't a real kid, or you might have been seriously injured." :p

If you read the remarks below somebody called that guy "Trailer park trash" for complaining about a flight that he paid $10 for. Pretty funny stuff.
And then he pointed out the difference between airfare and the price of driving...

I hope they have a better business plan than utilizing the rear doors for loading/unloading. These a$$clowns are gone inside six months, says I.
