Hi Guys,

I'm being really lazy; I know I can figure this out for myself but I'm asking anyway. Can someone from Sky West please decipher the alphabet soup of bases you all have (from airlinepilotcentral.com)? What are the most junior ones, and how long would it take for a weathered, worn out Saab FO at Mesaba to actually gain some PIC turbine experience with your company?

Thanks,

MM

From www.skywest.com:

PILOT - DOMICILES

SkyWest has 15 domiciles scattered throughout the United States.

EMB

Salt Lake City, Utah
Denver, Colorado
Portland, Oregon
Fresno, California
Palm Springs, California
San Diego, California
Monterey, California
San Luis Obispo, California
Sacramento, California
Santa Barbara , California

CRJ

Denver, Colorado
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Fresno, California
Palm Springs, California
Sacramento, California
Salt Lake City, Utah
Santa Barbara, California
Tucson, Arizona
Chicago, Illinois

Junior for EMB - FAT & PSP

Junior for CRJ - ORD, COS, DEN and (recently) SLC.

Upgrade times vary due to a huge number of factors, but expect EMB upgrade at around or less than two years. CRJ upgrade has been running around 3 years, sometimes a year and a half.

"Past returns are no indication of future performance..."

Amazing, Skywest mgmt. supports all these small bases. JA's primary reason for closing SLC for ASA, and this is a quote - "Skywest cannot continue to justify ASA's small operation, it just isn't efficient"

Interesting how ASA 's smaller operations are considered as such, but Skywest can sustain multiple small bases? Curious.

outstation bases for the emb mostly. saves on hotel costs in MRY, SMF, SBA, SBP, SMX, SAN, PSP, etc....

Thanks a million, guys. I really need to bail out of Mesaba, but I'm not sure about giving up almost 6 years. Based on Mesaba's threats, they'll be laying off beyond the six year mark by the end of this year. Then I'll head for the nearest port in the storm. Trying to determine which port it's gonna be. Thanks again.

not so 'curious' considering it doesn't make sense to have 2 of everything in SLC, ie: 2 CPs, 2 Mx depts, 2 Admin, etc.

JA has always said that. He's just being practical and cost efficient.
