Single Engine Rates?

I was asked to fly two gentlemen in their Cessna 206 for a day trip. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what I should charge them for this? I'm located in the Midwest.

If experience matters, I'm a CFI with fairly low time (~500 hours).

My guess, $250 plus expenses for the whole day.

Some FBOs charge $35/hr for pilot services. Guess it depends on the customer.

FYI: I get $40/hr for the flight time and $30/hr holding time at the airport plus meals. If it's overnight, I usually get $100/night. That's in both the singles and twins I fly.

Huh?

This scenario is totally legal. The plane's owner asked averyrm to fly him around. As long as the plane's owner isn't compensated by the other passenger, or paid to carry cargo, then there are no problems under part 91.

If averyrm was to arrange for the rental and pass along the total costs, then he'd have problems. I am not proficient on "holding out" and "common" vs "private" carriage, but I believe I am right on this.

JB74 is right, also I don't believe there's a picket line being crossed here, but I guess anything's possible.
