I have a Multi Engine ATP based on my ICAO ATP. I just found out that I can not fly singles unless I have a single ATP ... How can I do that the quickest and Cheapest way?

Thanx

How did you get the Multi ATP based on your ICAO ATP?! Thought you had to do a ATP written and flight test on a multi to convert?! If it's just a validation, then it is my understanding that you only get a PPL?

Well ... let me correct myself ... I did the written and the ride for ATP but all my times were accepted from my ICAO ATP.

Single-engine ATP

For whom? You certainly can fly singles if you have Private Single privileges on your pilot certificate.

In any event, assuming that you have single-engine ratings ...

I would just line up a simple single and an examiner, and take the test.

If you do not have any single-engine ratings at all, you will have to do it as an add-on. I suspect you would first have to add a Commercial single rating to your certificate before you can take the single-engine ATP practical.

Hope that helps a little.

captnmayday,

thanks for the clarification. I am thinking of converting my ICAO ATPL to the FAA ATP myself. Planning to do that this month. Which school did you go to and what do you think of it? Cost?

Cheers.

Jim,

The FAA ATP is an ICAO license. That I know.... But it's not a one-for-one swap from one ICAO license to another. The requirement to do the written and flight test is still mandatory if one wishes to obtain the FAA ATP.
