I am going to probably knock out my ME ATP this summer and was thinking about getting the SE ATP as well because I don't think it is going to cost much to add on. Wondering if anyone can think of any advantages to it, or to not worry about it. I am primarily a Helo guy wanting to get in the FW market in about a year. And just thought it might look better. Any Advice?

BTW I did look at a thread titled "ATP Ratings Programs" DTD 05/28/2002 and it made some good points.

Thanks

Mark

I wouldn't bother

Is there any job can you envision yourself applying for that would require a SE ATP?

I know of a Pilatus PC-12 operator that pays you more if you have a SE ATP, though a Commercial is the only thing required for employment. I also heard of a Caravan operator that does the same thing.

Single-engine ATP

There are two truly compelling reasons to get a single-engine ATP; 1) to avoid having your written expire and 2) to be able to list "Airline Transport Pilot" on your resume legitimately. In your case, inasmuch as you said you plan to get your ATP in the multi this summer, getting a single-engine ATP may be a non-issue unless your multi plans don't work out, but . . . . .

I got mine because I wanted to. I wanted to have the highest grade ratings attainable on my certificate. I did it the day after I got my Citation type with the same examiner. We used a Warrior. He already knew that I could fly after observing me in the Citation. So, it was no big deal to add it on and was kind of fun.

Good luck with your practical this summer.

Do you already have a single engine rating? If not, and you only have a ME, the SE ATP is the easiest checkride to take to get your SE rating. Otherwise, I don't see much point in taking another checkride.

Thanks

All, thanks for the insight.
