I don't think anyone really knows! Cappy's first 75 should arrive Jan/Feb 08 time frame as I understand it, and our 76 is slated for maybe Feb/Mar 08. This is the closest we've been to a claimed date with them still claiming it, so maybe it's actually getting close. No bid for it yet, but it's rumored to be expected "soon". I'm only guessing, but my guess is that once online, it'll be flying mostly LAX runs out of TOL, but the 76s as a fleet in general are also being talked about for MIA to South America, and also some Asia work, supposedly unrelated to ABX's Osaka work. We'll see... Either way, I plan to stay on the 8 and hopefully get back in the left seat once the bids are awarded. Did you apply?

You cannot fly in Asia when the 767 arrives, would have to get ok from JANB that could take up to two years!
 
That is air carrier specific not AC specific. ATI has been overthere for years and years

Congrats! I hadn't even heard that interviewing was going on. Were you told you'd be going to the 8 or was anything said about hiring into the 76? It would be new to me, but that wouldn't be the first time.... How many are going to be in your classes, if you have that info?

We've been flying in and out of Japan for years, and have had plenty of other Asia operations. I don't know if ETOPS will be a factor in any of what we're looking at, and that will be the only real obstacle that I'm aware of, unless we can piggy-back on someone else's certification as we get off the ground.

You don't understand. Simple operating authority under a US certificate (requires landing rights, route authority, etc), and JCAB authority to operate on behalf of a Japanese carrier, are two different animals
 
Penguin is right. The ANA flying cannot go from carrier to carrier. We were put though an incredible amount of audits and test and this and that and whatever just to be able to get that going with them. Not just to Japan, but ANA. ATI could certainly fly some other Asia business ABX gets, but the ANA flying can't be just handed off. Our office in particular went through more audits in one year than I have seen my whole career with all airlines I worked for combined. They are quite thorough, guess thats why they are airline of the year last year.
 
Cargopod - congrats on your class with Cappy. From your comment, I thought you had a class with ATI, but I didn't think I was THAT far out of the loop as far as not knowing about new hires and class dates. I don't think we'll be hiring much before peak. I'm a bit surprised to hear new hires going into the 75. Do you know if they put out a bid for current employees and didn't fill it? I have no idea how we're going to fill our 76 slots, but I'm guessing it'll be open to current employees first.

Peng, Shooter, Nite, Jurassic - The hoped-for Asia work isn't related to ABX, ANA or Osaka. Entirely different, in fact, at least as far as we're being told.

Thanks a lot! I got a letter a few months ago saying I am in the app pool but ATI is delaying hiring and I might be called when they start. Hopefully they interview those who were in the pipe before first!!!!

oops! Double bad on me, then. I missed the 727 in your list and figured you were a new hire. When's your first 757 supposed to arrive? Until more arrive, will it be mixed into the BAX runs wherever, or will it be tied to a specific route, or something all together different?
 
757's operational in Jan the second one in Feb. I don't know if you were at the meeting the other night when Fox was up there, but he told us that you guys were going to be driving the 767's. He also said that we will remain as separate companies. Take that for what it's worth. I heard he wasn't as nice to your crews in your meetings.
 
I wasn't there for the meeting, and haven't really heard much about what was discussed. Or even anything about him not being very nice. I'm sure I'll hear something at some point - I'll be in the hub next week. Thanks for the info!
