Single Carrier? ABX/CHI What does it take?

Well none of it makes sense. I could see some value to ATI. ATI has been heavy into international ACMI for a while. This may play into the ANA stuff, but why buy CCI? Not much the 72 has to offer except domestic. I don't think they are setting up a situation to spin off ABX air either. They could have done that without having to go to all of this trouble. I guess the ATI guys are finally getting a breathe of fresh air. Ive heard Fox was running you guys into the ground.

A lot of things with this whole deal don't seem to make much sense on the surface. Thing is, my gut tells me that there are quite a few hidden surfaces that will at some point reveal themselves. One thing that I do know is that our certificate is gold. We've just been letting it tarnish a bit since our current owner took over. And, no, we're not too impressed with them ("nice" mode here....). Maintenance has taken the biggest hit, and it's starting to show. As far as crews go, we've recalled everyone, but surprise surprise, not everyone took it, and now we're short. I still don't feel that we were anywhere near "going under" in the past months, but we are breathing a little easier with the possibilities that are in our laps. Cappy will get their first 757 before we get our first 767, but once ours does arrive, I think things will move fast. I believe they are serious about not merging the airlines, but as I said, there are so many possiblities that who can say what will happen?

I don't think anyone really knows! Cappy's first 75 should arrive Jan/Feb 08 time frame as I understand it, and our 76 is slated for maybe Feb/Mar 08. This is the closest we've been to a claimed date with them still claiming it, so maybe it's actually getting close. No bid for it yet, but it's rumored to be expected "soon". I'm only guessing, but my guess is that once online, it'll be flying mostly LAX runs out of TOL, but the 76s as a fleet in general are also being talked about for MIA to South America, and also some Asia work, supposedly unrelated to ABX's Osaka work. We'll see... Either way, I plan to stay on the 8 and hopefully get back in the left seat once the bids are awarded. Did you apply?

You cannot fly in Asia when the 767 arrives, would have to get ok from JANB that could take up to two years!

Congrats! I hadn't even heard that interviewing was going on. Were you told you'd be going to the 8 or was anything said about hiring into the 76? It would be new to me, but that wouldn't be the first time.... How many are going to be in your classes, if you have that info?

We've been flying in and out of Japan for years, and have had plenty of other Asia operations. I don't know if ETOPS will be a factor in any of what we're looking at, and that will be the only real obstacle that I'm aware of, unless we can piggy-back on someone else's certification as we get off the ground.
