From the weekly update:

As for ASA, we have some great news of our own. When the Department of Transportation releases its Air Travel Consumer Report on Monday, ASA will be ranked as the best regional airline for baggage claims with just 9.18 per 1,000 customers.

Alright everybody, start coming up with reasons why this is a fluke, then tells us ASA is going to be parted out and it's all _______(insert scapegoat of the day)____'s fault.

I beleive dat is cuz ASA allows carry-on's now, so half duh bags is wif ya in duh plane.... only half can get lost now... Bouyyyyyyy......

Connecting flights in ATL, CVG, and SLC are not allowed if you originate on an ASA flight. You must go to baggage claim, retrieve your bags, and recheck them before continuing on the next leg of your journey.

It is due to the fact that late bags are added even if you're 30 minutes late. You can't have on-time departures AND bags. It just can't happen here.

Gee, I think I'll fly ASA now because they're good at bags. Nevermind the rest of the company sucks.

MELIT,

I can't even begin to imagine what a horrible upbringing you must have had. What's it like to go through life with some much anger and contempt?

Actually that was a pretty good come back to an off topic insult! Now a serious question. Do you really have to go to baggage claim between flights?

So I think we can put an end to this progress. From now on do not except any late bags! If the paper work is in your hands, thats it no more. We get a contract, we start taking late bags again. I know its hard to keep the faith, and all you ALPA bashers will say it won't change anything, but why not give it a shot. It really is time to start rattling their cage. Personally I don't do ontime flights, its against my religion since we don't have a contract, and from now on I won't except late bags. So who's with me? Are we still a pilot group, or just 1800 individuals trying to make a living?

I seriously doubt one has to go to baggage claim to check then recheck their bags on ASA. The only airlines that I'm aware of that don't interline are Southwest and I think JetBlue. You can check your bags through on almost any mix of airlines without claiming them and rechecking them mid way through your trip.

That being said I've had several stations state that their focus is now on baggage and we've actually had to wait and leave late just to wait on a bag that a late passenger had checked.

Not "excepting" late bags means you WILL take them. :smash:
As I said in my post, I guess you are an individual, out for yourself, trying to make others look bad so you can rise to the ranks of chief pilot of America's Sh!tt!est Airline. Do not ACCEPT late bags! Make you feel better? You truly live up to your name Tool.

This is awesome logic. SkyWest has already transfered aircraft to show everyone that they are willing to do it, even if it costs a ton. ALPA demands an industry leading contract and in the mean time we have pilots like this guy. If SkyWest ever gets there act together, how could you blame Inc for taking all the flying and giving it to them with attitudes like this out there. We are all paid to carry Passengers. So lets screw the pax because of a fight with management. Not to mention if we all get together on this, it would be an illegal job action.

Not to worry. This guy and his bad attitude are in the vocal minority (tiny minority).

Do not ACCEPT late bags!

How would one go about refusing late bags? I've never been given a choice in the matter. They make the universal sign for bags, cross their fingers, and hold up some fingers (ie. "+2"). In addition, you are at their mercy until they disconnect you from the tug. You can yell and scream on the ops frequency all you want, but all that accomplishes is entertaining every other pilot who is listening.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people we have (and not only pilots) who make poor decisions based on emotion. It seems we have been so poorly treated that everyone wants someone to take it out on.

I blame management for creating a foul and toxic working environment. I certainly didn't come here planning to be miserable. That's for sure.

Blame G&J. They started this culture when they created ASA. It continues to be passed on to buyers of ASA.

I am in total agreement that G&J were the antichrist when it came to pilots and labor in general. It's pretty sad to see the way they continuously beat down on us. That's alot of what SkyWest doesn't understand- our chapter of ALPA was born out of necessity- not greed.

With that being said, I also think it is important to realize that we are not fighting G&J anymore. Those days, thank god, are over. We do, however, have a front row seat in a new ballgame. That's why I stick to my guns in saying it's nothing personal, just business. It's important not to allow this to get personal or emotional.
