I was wondering if anyone had could recomend any flight simulators for my home computer. I am starting my instrument training and was wanted to know if any of the ifr programs were any good. I have been looking at the "on top" program and the "elite program" in the Kings catalog. Thanks for any feedback.

Hammer

I have Flight Sim 2002 on my computer and have in the past used it to keep up on Intrument flying and find it usefull however , there may be better programs out that I,m not aware of. Good Luck

Various versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator, version 2004 being the current, are available. MSFS is the most widely used flight simulator program and has the most support and third-party products available. It's also the lowest priced. I'd suggest Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.

I like FS2004. Good for learning radio comm's to. My CFI was impressed how well I handle under the hood and radio comm's, after such a short time of real flying. I'm a true believer in it now.

Fs 2004

I found that Flight Sim 2004 is very accurate for general aviation flying. I have been playing the game ever since the first version. When it came time to do my instrument training it was a piece of cake. See video games can be educational. Plus with the ATC option will give you a little intro to what you'll be hearing on the radio. I don't know what the other programs cost but for $50.00 you cant beat FS 2004.

Work with "on Top" on our PCATD but not to wild about it.
Think FS2004 is much more realistic.

My vote is for Elite. Far and away the best. I first got it about five years ago in the single engine version 4.0. Recently I sold it and purchased the twin engine Baron/Seneca version.

I have the Microsoft Flight Sim 2002, 2004 and tried using it for instrument training, but I always go back to Elite and am so much more impressed.

It depends how much you can afford. For the price of $50 MS Flight Sim 2004 is a good product.

For $399 Elite is a GREAT product.

FS 2004 is only $9.99 not $50., a pretty good bargain.

ditto FS2004... elite may be better but for $400 you can fly 4 hours real approaches in a real airplane with a CFII. Elite is more interesting IMHO for schools and not so much for a single user. The most use I got out of FS2004 was not so much the scan or the feel, but simply the ability to practice visualizing holds and approaches, and memorizing procedures. I would say buy FS2004 for 9.99 and if you feel it is not enough you did not make such an expensive mistake, and you can still buy elite or whatever else.
