Sim instructor

At American Airlines where I am on furlough from a sim pilot instructor required an ATP and preferably 2500 turbine time or 500 PIC trurbine and a type rating. They will type you in the airplane you teach. For Ground school instructors they require at least 1 year teaching in aviation which can be flight instructing or ground school and flight crew experience. The flight crew experience can be a general aviation pilot, airline pilot or other crew member. We have some GS instructors that served as a KC10 boom operator and never servred as a pilot.
