Sim Training and GIBill question.

I can currently use my GIBill to pay for 60% of any initial jet training at most sim training facilities. Do any of the sim. training facilities lower the price if they know you are paying out of pocket instead of a company paying it for you? If so, is it possible for them to discount the 40% that I would have to pay? Just wandering if anyone had any suggestions.

I explored that possibility with the area rep from simuflite .......... the cheapest i could get was if i paid him out of pocket.....next cheapest price was if my company paid for it most expensive was the VA rate..........

as a aside be real careful how you spend your money ........... an example is ...... you walk into xyz hanger and they tell ya well.... if you had a falcon type i would hire ya .......you say, well if i go get one will you hire me and there response.....well go get one and we will talk...... so you go into the next hanger and they say .......... well if you had a hawker type i would hire ya and you say well if........... get the drift...................... I think if you are hell bent on gettin a type through the va then get a very common aircraft entry level jet type like a lear or cessna type............. better still if you can get on with an employer as a f/o then maybe you could advance a little quicker by using the va to get typed in something they have ........ i know its probably more than what you asked but i have seen guys get into a financial mess because of the 60 per cent discount on a type............... good luck

As a former Army guy and Army pilot ............ here is something you may want to consider ......... use the VA to get your A&P ....... it might expedite your movement into a jet job............. if you can bring to the table multiple skills it may make up for a lack of hours ......... and for those who were helicopter pilots .....yes you will still run into the predudice of not being "fixed wing" only pilots .....not as common, but, still true especially from the chief pilots from the "old school" who still feel there background is superior because they flew only fixed wing............ or a Southwest or Jet Blue airlines ....they dont even give you the credit for your turbine helicopter time that they give from flying a cessna150............oooooops did i get off on a tangent guess i did............. guess it goes back to "there are them is like us ,,,,,and them that ain't
