Newhires get $6K up front and the other $6K after serving two years. After taxes that sure ain't much and that sure won't cover the $100K+ these kids spent on their flight schools and aeronautical university loans... The regional desperation is becoming more apparent every day. Republic, like many regionals, can't come close to filling classes either.

Silver Airways (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood and Gainesville) has issued this statement to encourage the recruitment of more pilots:
As Silver Airways continues to proactively pursue innovative initiatives to attract and retain quality pilots, the next generation regional airline has announced it has increased its new hire signing bonus to $12,000. This doubles Silver?s previous signing bonus and is the highest pilot bonus in the regional airline industry.

Silver began its pilot bonus program in November 2013, providing qualified new first officers with a $6,000 signing bonus, half of which is paid upon completion of initial training and the other half after a pilot's first year of service. This week, Silver doubled that bonus and is now offering an additional $6,000 to be paid upon completion of two years of service.

This latest announcement is one of many proactive efforts underway at Silver to attract and retain quality pilots and other team members. On March 17, 2014, the airline signed a preferential hiring agreement with Broward College, which when added to its other aviation partnerships, will further assist the airline with finding top caliber new pilots. In addition, the airline is also investigating tuition assistance and scholarship programs with these and other certified aviation colleges and universities.

Hey,
PCL can get some of his PFT money back!

Still won't apply there, i need $50.00 an hour minimum to work for any of these regional airlines. Until then, they can all s$ck it!

LOL! Maybe next they'll say fly for us and we'll pay off your flying debt.

Now that might be cool.........

Oh wait. I thought they couldn't AFFORD higher labor costs.

$6,000 - Uncle Sam's 40% = $3,600 / 12 months = $300 per month

*yawn*

I love it!! As recently as like 5 yrs ago, this place (under the name Gulfstream) was CHARGING hopeful aspiring airline pilots as much as $30K to go through their 'F/O program'...which was just training them and having them fly a few hundred hours on line (and presumably parlaying that experience into an actual paying job somewhere). You didn't even get a type-rating. Yes- it was nuts. And those greedy pr!cks were laughing all the way to the bank..and STILL the SCABS running the place somehow managed to bankrupt it in the process. How the f*ck do you go bankrupt when ? of your labor force is PAYING YOU to work there, btw..?

Look at things now...!!!! I love it; how the pendulum can swing the other direction so fast. Silver/Gulfstream MGMT; you've made your bed over decades of taking advantage of hope/dreams of aspiring pilots. Now sleep in it!

I think I read somewhere that their 1st yr pay is $16K. Add $6K/yr to that and it brings it up to 22K/yr; lower than most regionals. No one should accept that. Given you can only fly 1000 hrs/yr max (and never do) that's $22/hr or less. Since duty time is at least double flight time (conservatively), it's about $10/hr. You can pretty much beat that flipping burgers at McD.

You can't add $6k. It's a signing BONUS. That gets an automatic 40% cut. Thus, you're adding $3,600...provided there are no state/local governments that want a piece of that action.

Either way, these sign on bonuses are a joke.

FUNDS to hold out???????????
