Just curious if anyone can tell me how easy it is to commute from the SE to either CMH, ORD, or IND for Shuttle America. I am trying to find out also how many hours a month can you average on a first year paycheck as well as days off? Do you get travel privileges in class as well or do you have tol wait till you are on the line? What is reserve running right now too? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Where would you be commuting out of? I commute from MCO-CMH and it's getting much worse. They just announced they are displacing 20 pilots beginning Aug. 1 and another 20 Sept. 1 from the MCO Chautauqua base to the CMH base. That means another 40 commuters between MCO and CMH.

You can get anywhere between 78 and 90 hours of credit on your monthly pay. Depends on if you want to bid min sched (78 hours) or max sched (90 hours). We are block or better so you can usually get at least another 5 hours on top of your awarded block time.

You get jumpseat travel prviledges as soon as you get your ID. We are in the CASS system now which helps out greatly.

Reserve right now is probably indefinite. All the growth is going to be going to Republic (30 E175's for Airways) and CHQ (44 RJ's for CAL). Expecting a large order of E175's for Delta in the near future at Shuttle America. We'll see what happens. Hope that helps.

I can commute out of MCO or TPA, even SRQ if I had to. Just wondering which city would be the easiest commute to be based, CMH, ORD, IND, which one should you expect out of training?

Expect either IND or CMH. I would bet on CMH. I don't think the TPA-CMH would be too bad. Like I said though, MCO is getting very difficult. You would be looking at a 2 leg commute out of SRQ.

With all the growth anticipated and one seniority list, it seems that reserve at any of the three airlines would be quick, right? Also what kind of schedules do you normally get? 4 on 3 off? Can you group your days on together? etc

Yes reserve shouldn't be too long for you. The company has pref. bidding. You request what parameters you want and they try to build your schedule around that. Most of the trips in CMH are 3-4 day trips. Most guys average about 15 days off per month. 11 off if you are on reserve.

Is ORD pretty senior? also, if you are flying on the Shuttle side, can you request to switch bases? as long as there is room and senority holds?

Yea, I was thinking ORD might be best for me too, plenty of flights into there out of TPA. Just don't know if I would get that out of class.

Also can any of you tell me what I will realistically make in year one at Shuttle America, with all per diem and extras included? I am just trying to figure out how to survive on 22 / hr. I just got furloughed and was at 54 / hr. So this is gonna be tough.

You can switch b/w bases under the shuttle cert. as much as you want as spots open, but you can not switch to CHQ or RP until you upgrade. I'm a S5 new-hire with about 4-5 months under my belt. CMH has given me a line every month that I've had to bid with no less than 16 days off and credit of 82-85 hours a month (+block or better). (This is not typical though it seems) I'm not sure how much longer we will see the growth here on S5 side. My recomendation would be to head to the RP side and go to PIT where it is growing like crazy and still relatively new. It should be getting bigger over the next year or so as 175's are delivered.
CASS J/S privy's start when you get your ID and your passport is put in the system. Delta bennies start 30 days after DOH. Havn't done much non-rev on United yet. Remember that you only get bennies on the airlines that your cert. flys for... S5 = Delta and United. RP = US Airways only

DO NOT COMMUTE! It's getting tougher and tougher. Most of the load factors are above 90% nowadays. Makes for it to rather difficult ecspecially with the weight restrictions on 50 seaters. During the holiday season and spring break month, be ready to start wracking up occurances since you'll probably miss some commutes. But CASS does help.... some.

Thanks Turkey and 5Glide,

I just took the first class they offered, which was Shuttle, just hoping for a quick upgrade at any of the RAH airlines. By the way, is RAH in negotiations right now or not? If so, how is it going?

Does anyone here have a link to the Shuttle America route map? When I go to the website it says "coming soon" for Shuttle America, but it has said that forever.

I doubt the company can keep up with the S5 route map since it seems to change every month (thanks to Delta). The only route map I know of is for all three certificates. But that too is old and out of date.

Thanks FLYING HORSES! Since I have to commute with S5 I was wondering if I can lump all my working days together? Can I work 7-10 straight or more then go home or is this impossible?

The lines weren't that easy to commute on anywhere but ORD and if you go there you will be on rsv forever. No you can't lump your days together unless the FAA changed it's policy.**I no longer work there so my info maybe out of date by 2 months or so.**

RP take 'er easy
Who is the NEW CP at SA by the way?

where did you wind up bouncing off to?

Hey guys, how does the application process work? Do you apply to a particular airline like Shuttle America, or all three certificates? ...if the later, do you at least know which side of the house they are hiring for?

You apply for a Flight Officer position with Republic Airways Holdings, the mins are the same now for both airframes, no exceptions, so theyre bassicly just putting newhires in classes as they need them....you dont really have a choice...you can turn down a class and wait for the next one but i dont think thats a smart idea....take first availabe...seniority is gonna be a biggy here if we hire as many new folks as they say we are going to....FWIW, i hear the next few classes are all going to be CHQ CRJ200. If i were someone in the pool id be drooling over those CRJ classes b/c youd be in the first few in the company....which means a great schedule w/ absolutley no reserve time.....

Not really a jab but this is the problem with the FO seat lock you guys have. Why should the most junior pilot have a better schedule than a more senior FO?

HOW BIG ARE THE CLASSES USUALLY?
THEY SAID THE 175S ARE COMMING WITH THE NEW YEAR..
IF SO, WHEN WILL THE CLASSES START AGAIN FOR rEPUBLIC?
