Mrs. Sosa is angling for an "injury" diagnosis to anchor a recovery claim on. Without an injury she can't profit. If under psychological care she can make a objective manifestation of her "injury" like, say, incontinence is common in "fear" based injuries, then she might be able to hook some liability recovery.

What is interesting is that 9 times out of 10 there was no manifestation until AFTER the Claimant goes to the Doctor. In a treatment plan which mostly hinges on documenting a case, it is amazing how much WORSE patients get with treatment.

If you pay her for going, she will need 15 years of care.* If she makes nothing by gaming the system, she is healed.* It is all about incentives.

* Not specific to Mrs. Sosa, just making generalizations here.

Your airplane hit a flock of birds. Blame Airbus/ Snecma or Pratt, or blame God for inventing Canadian Geese that fly South for the winter.

Gees, how 'bout being greatful for eff-ing being alive.

Your welcome!

Honestly, these passengers spend 5 hrs on the internet to save 10 bucks on a ticket. They travel for $80 because they are subsidized by the nations airline employees. Then they want a big pay-day if something goes wrong.

$5,000 for being made whole on a ticket you paid $80 for. Sounds like a good deal to me. Go buy a new laptop ($400) and new set of keys ($150 if you have to call a locksmith to come out) and thank God (and maybe pilots) for being alive.

You forgot the most important person (or group rather) to blame -- BLAME CANADA!!! (After all, they are Canada Geese, allowed to encroach on US Airspace by those pesky Canadians...)

As for the need for long-term therapy for these people... Give me a break. The modern approach to crisis/ brief counseling (PTSD from an accident, etc) is limited to 8 (or so sessions). Any more than that is counter-productive. Even if they're paying top dollar for a high end crisis counselor, in the $1000 per hour range, that's only $8000-$10000. And that would be for a high-end, Hollywood-type counselor. Besides, US Airways provided them with counseling (FOR FREE) in their local area from a certified crisis counselor. Did I mention it was FREE???

These greedy SOBs are after $$$. Plain and simple. And "extensive counseling" for the toddler???? You know, we all blame lawyers for what's wrong with this country, but maybe we also need to point the finger at quack psychologists that want to provide all this "therapy" to people that don't really need it. What ever happenned to just sucking it up, dealing with the setback, and driving on???

OK, rant over.....

Do you know where I could apply for that job?

Do you know where I could apply for that job?

First you have to go to some no-name (maybe even not accredited) left-wing, looney, new-age school and get a "degree" in counseling. Then you need to join one of the major Hollywood cults (scientology comes to mind). Once you join, you need to move up the ranks and befriend some whack-job Hollywood type (to get noticed). You then need to "help" said whack-job and convince them that you "cured" them. Once that is done, your name will be golden with all the other Hollywood crazies and you can charge whatever you want to "cure" them as well.....

Or you can go to a real school, get a real counseling degree, get state certified, and then be offered a starting counseling job for about $25,000/ year. (Or be told that without a few years of actual experience you aren't qualified -- apparently "counseling" all the other crazy pilots one flies with doesn't count as experience...) :p
