You may want to visit block times for your 700 mile mission. I doubt a jet will save more than 15 to 20 minutes on this. Maybe the boss's time is worth that much, but you may want to look hard at that. You have the perfect airplane for the mission, unless leg lengths are going to grow past 1,000 miles or you really need more room, you may be making a career limiting move by not putting the brakes on this one.

How do you upgrade from a King Air 300 on a 700 mile leg, short and high field capability?

We currently operate a King Air 300 and are looking to upgrade to a jet. The only problem is that we operate out of high and short airports(4000ft at 6000ft). Is there anything that can do this in cool weather and traveling about 700 miles. Thanks!

Hello,

You should take a close look at this one:

Looks like 700 miles, and more, high and even hot will be no problem.

Have fun!

B0001,

How many pax do you usually have on board? There are many planes that would fit this mission. You don't want over kill, but you also don't want to under do the mission either. CJ2+ or CJ3 would fit the mission, plus you could most likely operate both cheaper than the 300 or 350.

Thanks for all the help!! We usually have 5-8 people onboard for the trip. It is a small airport in colorado so it is usually pretty cool in the mornings in the summer. We can use Montrose if it is just way to hot but they perfer the little stip in the moutians. Budget wise we are really looking to stay around 2-5 mil. I heard the Lear 31 works well.?. The 300 works great and I dont think there is a jet that they can "load up" with pax and bags like you can the 300. I am worried about what Flyflyfly said about shooting myself in the foot. Im sure there are plenty of guys out there that have jumped from King air's to light jets and made it look pretty. We do this trip only about 20% of our flying and im not sure that if we did have a jet we would do 1000+ legs. Thnaks again!

King Air owners have a habit of backing up a Chevy Suburban to the plane that is full, can a LR31 do that?
