Does anyone know a good place to get shirts for those of us who are not 6ft tall and weight 300 lbs? All the shirt I have ordered in the past have the pockets come down to my gut and the short sleeves come down to my wrists. The few shirts that fit me are wearing as thin as toilet paper and I can't seem to locate any more. I have tried Van Husen, Landerwood, and Cintas. They are all too bulky. I am 5'6 140lbs, with a 38inch chest.

Heyas Rusty,

I had the same problem...

You can order "tapered" shirts from some places, and they fit much better.

My outfit was out of tapered shirts (they quit ordering them), and my last one was oil sploched, so I bought a bunch of the regular ones, and you're right...they fit like tents.

I took them to the local alterations place, and they put the taper in them for like $3-4 each. Now they fit like they were tailored, and well worth the $$.

Hope this helps...

pilot house sells tapered shirts.....I had the same problem. I went with the Pilot House tapered shirt/athletic cut and it fits better than the regular "tentlike" Husens....

One cannot defeat 6'5" tall Saudi terrorists when being of such small stature in hand to hand MORTALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL combat!

You must be 6' and 300lbs like me! Then you just fart in their general direction, and all is well!

And remember to do the next guy a favor: take a step closer to the urinal... it's shorter than you think.

I'm 6' 165# and I use Landerwood 700 series shirts. They are cut with a slight taper. Great quality, but plan on a month plus to receive them after you order.

Thats cool man, im going to have to check them out when I get out of here. I have an 18.5" neck but my waist is around 36", think what most shirts look like when I put them on....the friggin liberty bell!....and whats with guys who have an 18-18.5 with only 32-33 arms? Are you a friggin T-rex?

Sheesh!

Go to Korea and get custom made clothes!

Heyas,

Or you could just be like those 20 year guys who are still wearing their new hire shirts. Ya know, the ones that are virtually transparent, several buttons are missing and the dude doesn't wear a t-shirt?

Don't forget the polyester quadruple knit slacks that are so shiny they could be used as a signaling mirror.

Some of them could really stand a bit closer to the soap and water next time in the shower, too. Don't forget, the razor actually has to make contact with your skin to "shave".

I hate management as much as the next pilot, but I simply couldn't walk out of the house looking like some of the guys I see.

Heh,

One guy I flew with at my last airline was like cop in "The Animal". The guy wore shirts like 3 sizes too small, and the buttons and fabircs were streched to the maximum. Every time he moved, it looked like "The Hulk" getting ready to bust out.

You could either shop in the women's section, or man-up, hit the gym and pack on some muscle.

God created the Heavens, he created the Earth! He created all the Hulkamaniacs! Then, he created a set of 24-inch pythons, brother!

I'm another huge fan of Pilot House. After a few weeks of wearing those, I wore my VH one day and the first thing I did when I got home was throw it in the trash.

Maybe If You Were Not Twelve Years Old And Had To Instruct Or Pay Some Sort Of Dues To Get An Airline Job You Might Fit In The Uniform..

Land's End

Landsend.com Unless you're a total mutant, you can order a shirt in just about size combination you need, and they have trim fit and stout fit (a polite term for well, ahem, portly pilots).

Great return policy. You order it, if it doesn't fit, send it back, lather rinse repeat.

Gay!

Could this thread get any more gay? (Not that there is anything wrong with that)

Yeah, man, this thread has totally turned gay. I'll bet someone is about to start one off about the best place to get a feather boa and some glitter.

If there is anything that creeps me out worse than gay midgets, it is when gay midgets can't find properly-tailored clothes and come here whining about it.

-Super!

,

OR....Maybe some of us don't pig out at airport food courts...:).........Just remember, portion control if you do, drink lots of water, easy on the carbs, snack on beef jerky, etc....Gotta love watching the other guy turn sideways just to fit in the cockpit door.

I feel your pain. I recently lost 45 pounds, and now I'm 5'5," 137 pounds, with a 42" chest and a 33" waist...seriously. As they used to say, you do the math. The best I've found are the Pilotshirts tapered, like others posted, as well as the Landerwood "athletic" (not "tapered") cut. I have a VH Pilot tapered, like Garff posted, but even that makes me look like I'm wearing a bed sheet. Best of luck in your search.

You can't buy any clothes in this country that aren't cut to the default(lardass) size. Normal folks either have to buy something from Europe with a decent cut or just buy here and have a tailor on staff.

I guess they go on the theory that you can cut more off but you can't add on.

No matter what shirt you get with what taper lets all agree not to where our uniforms "skin-tight". I've seen a couple guys at work that look like they are trying to prove something with their uniforms streached over their bony 160 pound bodies... Save that stuff for your days off - just look "normal" around the rest of us.
