I was under the impression that airline employees got "substantial" discounts on FedEx and UPS shipping costs, like 70%+. However, when I shipped an item from the UPS store last week, all they gave me was a 15% discount on the packaging materials, nothing on the shipping costs. What's the norm for something like that? I had my crew ID. Is there anything else we need to do?

Use FedEx Express. Packaging materials are free, you can't fall out of bed without hitting a WSC or a Kinkos, and you get something like 75% off of express shipping.

Ground is a different story...there isn't much room to move in that price, so the discount is much less substantial.

Also, you don't have to worry about whatever tricks the franchisee tries to pull since all stores are company owned.

Yes, I have a part-time job and I'll give you one guess where. :)
