I did my CFII out there. Good school, great people. Beautiful scenery too; that is, if you like the color brown. If you go out there with a "go get 'em" attitude, you WILL come home in the allotted time with the ticket in your pocket (barring any unforseen circumstances regarding weather or aircraft problems).

Good luck and fly safe!

Got a few ratings at the end of my training there. It's good for the "go get 'em" type, as previously posted. I had a guy in my CFI class who was sent home because he couldn't handle the training at the rapid pace required by the program. I don't know about getting your instrument or private there, but I would go for the rest.

Sheble's

Really nice people, especially old man Sheble who is DE. They run a good program in my opinion.

My advice:

I stayed in their apartments; however, I wish I would have just commuted to a cheap casino hotel in Laughlin (25-35 minutes or so) because Kingman is a bit lame. Laughlin has decent cheap hotels, food, beer and everyone is 70 so you won't actually get distracted anyway unless you like to gamble.

They have a program up in Henderson, NV 10 miles from Vegas. That would be the ticket if your program is up there. I don't think they do Instrument training up there.

Good luck

Thanks for the replys...I'm planning on driving there and will now stay in the cheap casino hotel like suggested...Any recommendations?

Also, I'm a pretty serious about doing things and don't like to waste time...

Hey I dont want to be the party pooper but I would have some serious reservations about sending someone to Sheble for an initial IR. If your were going for the CFII and you could fly well in instrument conditions no worries. I've been training someone for a while who did get the IR with Sheble and he has some serious gaps in his training. If you treat it as a license to learn, most likely it will work out ok. However, if you treat it as a ticket to go fly around in actual, down the the minimums, with terrain, your crazy.

hey guys, i worked at sheble's from summer 03 to december 04. you are right on about the training. quick, set prices and you will get your ticket. would i send a student in actual after training......no. you will need more practice with a safety pilot or instructor once you leave, but if you want the ticket and dont want to get ripped off i would go. all of us instructors back then were great and im sure they are now.

remember they are paid salary so you'll never be milked for flight time$$$$$.....its all the same to us.

Sr. is back doing checkrides and Eddie is a great DE and friend. all the instrument training is out of IGM and I believe they closed the HND office this summer. call val and ask.

sheble's is fun, fair and straight to the point.....i enjoyed my time there. PM me if you want/ask more questions.

Did my CFII there.. It was quick, but at the time they had 14 or so airplanes down because FAA inspections. I would ask you to investigate why they moved from Bullhead City, AZ to Kingman, AZ.. I'll leave it at that..
