I went from PPL to CFI-II-MEI in 50 days for 19k this spring. Your first 10 student will make you a good instructor not a flight school. But Vinny will get you prepared for the checkride with the LAS FSDO. Its a good place but be ready to go with the flow.

Ok...You can buy your time with them or do you need all your time / mins before you show up?

Maybe I should just call them and ask.

I did all my instructor ratings there, they are good people. Just be sure to have all of your writtens done, and your lesson plans for a smooth go at it.

Do they hire if you pick up your MEI there?

Generally No.....I was offered a job because i had been there 4 so long and got to know Joe Sheble SR. very well....you would have to impress Eddie Lane or SR. to get a job.

VERY true. It's a laid back atmosphere, with sometimes laid back planning. If you have a good attitude and go with the flow they will take care of you and you should have a good time. It's a good place with good people. It sometimes seems like chaos in the office, but there is a master plan. For example: "After we're done training and I sign you off, I'm going to give you a ride to IFP in 89Q where you will meet Sr. at the Riverside after his ASES ride for your oral, meet him on the dock. By the time the oral is done, 562 will be on the ramp for the practical. Around the time you are done with that, I'll be back with 24C to pick you up, and if you don't mind we are going to drop you off in HII after we shoot an approach with my next student and you can fly 01H back to IGM. Any questions?"

I put this question in another thread, but haven't gotten an answer yet so I'll post it again... Those of you that did your CFI/CFII at Sheble, how did you feel your instructional skills were when you left? Did you feel prepared to teach or just prepared enough for the ride?

I used to be an instructor back back in the day and I will tell you one thing. Getting you Instructor ratings will not teach you on how to be a good instructor. The only way your instructional skills will get better is by instructing.

BTW, Sheble no longer can do the CFI checkride with an on staff examiner. The rules are changing nationwide, it appears. They use the Vegas FSDO now. But I believe the MEI and CFII check is done with an on-staff-examiner.

I use to work for sheble. Sr. is the best. Eddie don't mean squat. He is a crack head. You do it the way sr. wants it you will work out great.
