LONDON, June 13 (Reuters) - A British comedian could face criminal charges over the death of a "sensitive" shark after he jumped into a tank at an aquarium in the nude, the Daily Telegraph newspaper reported.

The 12-year old smooth hound shark -- which measured three feet (0.91 metres) -- died suddenly two days after Guy Venables jumped into its tank as a publicity stunt at the Brighton Sea Life Centre, southern England.

"This variety of shark is susceptible to stress. We are very concerned he died as a result of seeing Mr Venables jumping into the tank," Sea Life Centre's Lisa Handscomb told the newspaper.

"The shark is being examined by our biological services team and if it is found that he died from stress, we will prosecute Mr Venables for criminal damage."

Now there is an idea for a reality TV show. Get HBO or some cable channel to do it so when he gets his just rewards, no one will have to sensor it!

doesn't it surprise anyone that a shark would die from the stress of seing a man jump into his tank? I always thought the ocean was a higher stress environment than a tank with a man splashing around in it...but that's just me.

What kind of whimpy a$$ shark gets that upset and stressed out when a person jumps in his water? No wonder it had to be kept in a tank... all the other sharks in the sea must have teased it mercilessly... Called it names and took his lunch money. Now he's gone! There is no safety for sensitive sharks anymore!

A Great White will not usually eat a human, rather they take a bite to 'test' the prey. There are many Marine Biologists now free-swimming with Whites to 'prove' that Whites are not interested in man as prey, and only bite when mistaken or curious. Evidently, we don't taste good to Great White sharks.

However ... the warm-water Tigers are known man-eaters, and are VERY agressive.

So ... I ain't impressed yet.

That should be the prick's punishment...he's guilty of animal cruelty as far as I'm concerned.

Got another idea for a movie, though! Roy Scheider figures out he can kill the shark just by stripping naked and jumping in the water with it. Jaws VI: "You're gonna need a bigger d_ck!" They could film it in 3-D! Like that Lou Gossett/Dennis Quaid P.O.S.

In the open ocean, Oceanic Whitetips are the most feared, they actually hunt people. Kind of like they know you can't do squat to save yourself if you are in the open ocean with them, they will tear you up quick even though they are not very large. Scientists say these guys are the ones to be wary of, also Bulls near or on the shoreline are to be feared.
