Was wondering if I flew a few friends to Bahamas with my private pilot cert if I could get away with charging them for me flying them as soon as I was out of the FAA's jurisdiction? I've always wondered this but have never heard anyone talk about it so I just don't know how it all works. Maybe some of you could shed some light on this.

That flight is going to depart from the United States, right? Even if the pro-rata share bit doesn't apply in another country (and I believe it still will with a U.S. registered pilot and a U.S. registered airplane), you can't just pick up your friends in mid air as you reach the 12 mile limit. Most countries tend to be more restrictive on pilots and aviation in general than the U.S.

I was talking only about inter-island transport. So therefore the flight would originate and terminate in the bahamas.
